A ton of talk has gone on about how Boston cruised to the Finals and winning 64 games by destroying the far weaker Eastern Conference teams. Which is definitely true, at least in the playoffs thus far; and going 40-12 vs Eastern teams in the regular season makes a similar point. That said Boston also went 24-6 (.800) vs Western teams while Dallas could only manage 32-28 (.533) vs the same teams in the regular season, and has yet to beat Boston the past two years. Bottom line, if Dallas can maintain its momentum, and assuming no injuries, this could be the best NBA Finals we’ve seen in a long time. The model does like Boston, both at home (where it’s been about .500 so far in the playoffs), and away as well, but that could easily change; and although the numbers project a ‘gentleman’s sweep (5-1) for the Celtics, I’m betting it goes 7 games.
