When dogs win outright, it means not only that Vegas line-setters have screwed the pooch, it also means team numbers can mean doo-doo, which points out the importance of context and the eye-test. Flukey game-changing plays and in-game injuries, of course, play a part, but 6 upsets, and dogs covering 9 times, means there was more at stake in those games than was quantifiable by win/loss records and team/player stats. And you only “know” those non-numerical variables by “knowing” the teams by watching them play, knowing each player’s, coach’s and team’s situation. Overall, I had a losing week, but I won with the Ravens and Raiders; I had both on money line bets, which saved me a ton of money, and if I hadn’t watched every snap of every game these teams had played this season, I never would have bet either team to even cover. But – that was one week. In the end, numbers still rule. GLTA
