happened to catch two flicks i`d never heard of on cable recently and i thought they were both excellent...
one was called "a lonely place to die" and starred melissa george and a mostly scottish cast....it`s about a group of mountaineers who stumble across a kidnapped young girl who was buried alive in the mountains(they hear her cries through a breathing tube sticking up through the ground).....it`s half deliverance/ half chase thriller through a scottish town during a festival....acting is excellent...some implausible spots but,hey,it`s a movie...it`s still a very good thriller..and the bad guys are real bad...
the second one was called "red"(not the bruce willis movie)....it starred brian cox as an older dude who seeks revenge against some miserable teenagers who killed his dog....it`s not a blood and guts revenge gorefest like the deathwish movies.....it`s well written and very deep stuff....tom sizemore plays the main bad kid`s rich and powerful father and it`s not surprising why the kid turned out to be a shitstain....kim dickens(the prostitute from deadwood) has an excellent role as a reporter....
honestly,these are seriously solid movies...i seldom fall into two i`ve never heard of that are this good(practically back to back).......i don`t think you`ll be disappointed....
