Courtesy of Phil Baroni himself, from Sherdog.com

Im making the move because I want to be a World Champion. I dont fight for pay day's or fame, to be on tv or chick's. I got into MMA because I wanted to be the best fighter in the world.

This is what I feel at this point in my career I need to do. Im feel Im a better fighter than Ive shown in the ring esp as of late.

As far as the move to Welter Weight goes I feel great. Im more athletic. Im in much better condition, my hand speed is back, an I would go as far as to say Im alot quicker than I was at my previous best.

I feel just as strong physicaly if not stronger do to much greater flexability.

Im not going to make any predictions or promises. Ive been very humbled as of late. Ive been handed a real wake up call.

Im going to give it my all 100% and do my best. Its Do or Die for me. Im All In! I love to fight. Im a real fighter, an like I said the day I dont think I can be a World Champion is the day Ill retire.

Im not done yet, I have alot of fight left inside me. I have alot to prove to myself an alot of people to prove wrong.

NEVER SAY DIE !!!

Personally, I love Baroni and his antics, he makes fights exciting. No matter what you say about the guy, he knows how to build up a fight. Like he said, he's been humbled lately.

I just hope we can see the old Phil Baroni who was competitive.

Same old tune coming from Baroni. Until he starts taking training and cardio serious again he will continue to get walked over :nono:

BUCS.. love to hear ur fight picks, etc........ im glad that u like to hear the Baroni's mouth, but i dont.... I've never thought he was good at building up fights b/c his performances havent given me any reason to pay attention to the guy......

His record is pathetic... he may gain some personal confidence moving to welterweight, but he is big enough to stay at 185... size is not the problem --- he is just not very good.......... hard to get excited for a guy when he just.........well................ sucks.

Hes worse than Tito when it comes to the trash talk IMO....... i mean look what Phil said b4 this last fight.... went in there and got MAULED.. guy is a SCRUB... JMO

I agree the guy is an idiot, but I enjoy his antics for some reason. It just makes fights exciting I guess. I do think he does a good job building fights. He's comical.

One thing you have to admit is that when he fights, he's gonna throw bombs and most likely get bombed! LOL

i care deeply. He is a great fade. How the hell is he gonna make weight? He looks in excellent shape everytime i see him. doesn't look like he could lose five pounds.

I love Baroni.
All he does is make me cash.
He talks up every fight and people buy into it lowering the lines somewhat, then he goes out and gets his ass handed to him.

How can you not love a guy that puts easy cash in your pocket???

Keep bringing it Phil. My money that is.:mj07:

NYBA is good friend of Oddsman Odessa. Him......Evan Tanner & Buentello. 3 guys on slide, but all really decent people outside the ring according 2 Od. I like watching Phil fight..never know what to expect.
He wins as underdog and loses when he is expected to win.

Headcase ...but 170 can only help his cardio. He's gotta run to make 170 and he should carry his power with him.

I'm sure he is a nice guy, most guys in MMA are. But as for talent........Baroni and Buentello should go bowling together, they both stink. Tanner is way above those two.

And I am all for marketing and hyping an event, but ya gotta back it up sometime now don't cha.:scared

So when is the Shamrock/Baroni/Severen/Kimbo battle royal?:142smilie

Baroni certainly isn't afraid to fight anyone. Alot of people hate his dancing and flashy antics, which I can understand. However, I love his trash talking. I like the guys who are willing to build up a fight. It makes it more exciting for me to watch.

Would you just rather watch 2 fighters who hardly talk just square off? Sure if it's a good fight matchup. However, I love to see 2 guys talk trash then show it in the ring/cage.

Baroni has not won as an Underdog in at least 3+ years(maybe the Chonan fight).
He has not won as the favorite in an even longer time.

He should fight Ken WWE Retirement Style.

Actually not WWE style because in the WWE the loser always seems to comeback and we dont want that.:mj07:

I love "bad blood" matches, the true grudge matches... fights where guys truly dont like each other are more exciting IMO.

I think what u mean is you like the animated characters of the sport, and id like to see more of that in MMA as well... I wish the sport had more true entertainers, like Mayweather and Ali, that can back up their mouth more often than not... and Baroni cant.

Right now only Rampage has the characteristics of a natural entertainer.. and winner.. Anderson Silva was an entertainer back in the day as well, but he has settled down more lately...

Btw, Anderson does a nice Bruce Lee impression:

M Costello i think people are making the point that he is washed up. His last fight to me he just looked scared. Kinda like Ken Shamrocks last fight. They get hit now its one hit and they are out. I still think the Baronie/ Frank Shamrock fight was one of my favorites tho.

That Bruce Lee is hilarious.

You know what sticks out watching Spider 2.0 Hypnotics? This dude has some HUGE hands for being a middleweight. No wonder why his clinch is so damn lethal.
