I can't believe the myopic blindness around here. I guess that when you're a fan, you feel you have to defend your team - no matter what. I guess that's not all that bad, but some of you guys are taking it to a whole new level, and frankly are losing some of your credibility. Most people on this site use this as a tool, and respect people's opinions on teams/games, especially those who are fans of certain teams, and get to watch them more often than the rest of the country. I don't have any stats to back up my thoughts, but I'll tell you what I've seen. The bottom line is this:

The Lakers aren't taking the ball to the hole. Shaq is, but NO ONE else is. Kobe has a HANDFULL of times, but that is it. I don't know what the points in the paint ratio is, but I'm sure that Deetwa is killing us. The only points in the paint we have are Shaq's numbers, and that's it. The gaskets are DRIVING to the hole, and guess what. . . they're getting the calls. They're getting fouled. We're not going to get fouls called on us shooting 16-18 foot jumpshots.

This is the one series where our jumpshots aren't going in - if we could get a few more to drop, it may be a different series, but guess what . . . they're not. Do we adjust? Uh no. Do we drive to the basket? Uh no.

I will defend the Lakers in the complaining department though. We didn't invent this. Everyone seems so surprised that Phil/et al are complaining about the free throws/fouls. Does everyone here have short term memory disorder?!? THIS HAPPENS EVERY YEAR! Except this year, it's us doing the complaining. This is not a new concept. . . just a new concept for the Fakers. Complaining about the fouls is a sign of desperation. . . and we're desperate. That luck-o-meter is is on "E" right now, and no more last second shots are going to bail us out now. It will take nothing short of the world coming to a screeching halt for the Lakers to win this series. (I do think that they'll win game 5, but from there. . . who knows.) Hell they may come back and win the series, but man would I be surprised. They'd have to have a new hero come to the surface, and he'd have to be present for 3 games in a row - because Karl was the glue that held this team together, and right now. . . they're not a TEAM. Shaq and Kobe alone can not & will not get it done without help from a 3rd party. . . you pick. . . I have no idea who will step up.

Just a note to let you know that not all Laker fans are idiots. Get that medicine out - it's gonna hurt going down - but we gotta take it. If that makes me a "fan that doesn't BELIEVE". . . so be it. Does that make me a fair weather fan. . . . don't think so. . . I'll love them forever, and I ALWAYS wear my teams colors all year 'round - no matter who it is. We just shouldn't let our stance as fans cloud our judgement on "who is being dominated" or "who the better team is". As my dad used to say: "It's a great big shiot sandwich. . . and we're all gonna have to take a bite."

agreed. we're in the same spot last year. lakers have 2 superstars and 3 role guys that wouldn't start for any other playoff squad, and 3 guys off the bench that wouldn't play more than 10 minutes on any other playoff squad.

let's hope this team isn't blown up.

Thats about the first intelligent post in the nba forum in awhile.

I could really care less who wins this series since my Pacers crapped out before the finals. But for all that are blaming the refs is commom place when your team loses. You can disect every play in about every game and find a foul it seems like. I mean I can sit here and argue all day long about the artest flagrent foul but it would have made no difference the Pistons out played the pacers just like the Pistons are taking it to the Lakers. The bottom line is the lakers have been exposed at certain times during this series. The give away too many offensive rebounds. Their bench is absolutely useless at best. They are not agressive at the defensive end and are being out hustled on just about every lose ball. Phil jackson has been out coached by suitcase Larry. The pistons are taking it to the hole as much as possible, while the lakers seem to think they are a jump shooting team. Its amazing to watch shaq go 4 to 5 possesions in the 4th without touching the ball. The pistons dictate the tempo and they are smothering Kobe who at times looks average at best. Payton is lost and is getting blown by on the dribble. The lakers still can't stop the pick and roll. The pistons are hungry and the lakers seem to be in a daze. I don't see the lakers getting many easy shots while the pistons have open jumpers most of the time. I don't know what game most have been watching but this laker team is not that great. I think most assumed that the pistons would just lie down and let the lakers cake walk to another championship. Since the East was so weak this year.

I have learned one thing from this series and it sticks out bigger than ever. Shaq is a man among boys. He is having one the greatest finals ever. Even if they loose this series he is the MVP IMO. He has been dominating in almost every game. But he seems to be the only one who has that drive on this team.

I agree, the lakers are outplayed and thats it, I was saying before the series started that the lakers were going to blow and hit the pistons very hard, right now I know I was wrong, but I have to say something too!! All this time I think the "Lakers Haters" have been very aggresive people, they are trying to beat you in the floor and do not accept any kind of conversation, they are just hitting and hitting and hitting!! To me this series means two very differents things, One my team can win the championship, Two my money invested in any kind of bet in those games, sincerely I just had 4 bets in all the series all loses, all loses in halftime, and thats it, I am no playing anything else I have been posting all my championship plays, just 4, and thats it!!!

The othe thing I want to talk about is the one what I am more concerned. All people is taking this chit very serious, to me is just a bet, when you try to bet on something, you should really beleive in what are you betting, and if anybody else try to change your mind you maybe change your mind or just continue with your ideas, to me this series is the same, the people should respect other people thinking and thats it!!! No body is smartest then other, and a lot of that people who is acting like wiseass are people we never met in this forum all year long, so, if you want to say something do it, everybody can do it, but do not come to fight and do this more difficult to the losers, nobody was kicking the pacers when they lose, nobody was kicking the spurs when they lose, nobody was kicking the timberwolves when they lose, and nobody was kicking the people who support the losers!! to me is part of the respect and thats it, maybe I was commit some mistakes here, not much, maybe with the fingers of one hand I can count it, but at least I come everyday and try to give something to beat the book, and thats the mission of this site, so why dont you all people start trying to help, not trying to come like wiseass when you are just winning one bet at the time, and thats it??? just my thoughts!

good luck to all

couldn't agree more.

lakers are not getting the foul calls... WHY??u said it. besides shaq, all they do is shoot jumpshots. Fisher--mevendanko--Watlton--Rush--Fox--Malone--george--all guys that shoot jump-shots. No toughness there--and none of them are going to the hoop. Hence the lack of foul calls. Detroit--playing great d, can recover and close out on shooters with their athleticism. Unlike Minnestota( with the mayor---wally--cassell--no defense on the permiter. This is why rush shot great against minn--and d fish.

Bottom line--is that lakers are not shooting great shots--and they have trouble scoring more than 17 pts a quarter. There shootin terrible in their losses especially from 3. Believe we see a big effort to keep going inside. Detroit content with letting shaq score. limiting others. Look for lakers to get this next one.

Agree with all posts from above... I'm not a Lakers fan and I don't mean to start anything... This is just my point of view.

I am not sure if Detroit is "content" with Shaq scoring. They just can't do much about stopping the deisel. You have to give credit where credit is due. Shaq has been busting his balls all series long.
