Currently at Pinnacle...

Woods +509
Mickelson +1619
McIlroy +1619

Surprised to see McIlroy as the co-second choice.

Kinda like Donald at +4552.

Good luck to all!

I am so lost on who I think will contend this week, but those odds on Tiger are unbelievable, I wouldn't even back him at 15-1 with the way hes been playing lately and the family shit hes got going on 5-1 is insane:shrug:

yeah hard to over look that but, all his other starts have been pretty much ugly.... I guess I just think his days of being on such short odds are over, when I watch him play now he looks average, and his putter is atrocious now.

watch him lap the field now :0002 :0002

Yea his putting has been whats off. He loves this course more so than any other. I think key this week will be the luck of the (weather) draw. It's almost a crap shoot..

I havent started looking yet. I spent the morning in the er.

Im thinking of fading mickelson. Anytime i can do that in an Open, i try..

Darren Clarke for maybe a first round leader..

What a joke Allenby is with this bogus wrist story
Allenby had his painful left wrist and lower arm bandaged on tournament eve and did not hit any balls.

Instead, he walked the back nine to at least have a look at the Pebble Beach course, which he has not played in more than a decade.

"I haven't played here since 1999, so I don't really know the golf course," he said on Wednesday.

"I'm going to go for a walk this afternoon, on the slight chance I play tomorrow.

"It even hurts my wrist to hold the putter. It can't get any worse but I'll try to play regardless. I'm hoping a day's rest will give it what it needs."

Monday Notebook: High stakes, high entertainment for Mickelson

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) -- When he reached the end of his practice round, Phil Mickelson could only chuckle.

?You think anyone has ever grinded this hard on a Monday?? he said.

It was only a practice round at the Open, and a high-stakes game with Dustin Johnson and Nick Watney. But it was high entertainment at the end, even for Mickelson.

The threesome had side bet on stroke play, with the loser paying the winner (whoever finished second was off the hook). Johnson roared out to a big lead, turning in 3 under, until the back nine tripped him up. Mickelson surged to a big lead until back-to-back bogeys, then a tee shot so far left on the 17th he thought he wouldn?t find it.

Watney also was in the rough, searching for his ball. That led Mickelson to wonder aloud, ?Has anyone ever gone back to the tee for losing a ball in a practice round??

Lefty found his ball and salvaged a bogey, sending him to the 18th at 1 under -- two shots ahead of Johnson and Watney.

?I could make a 1 here. That would help,? Johnson said, and it wasn?t clear if he was kidding. After all, he does hit it a long way.

Mickelson, again disproving the theory that his course management is lacking, hammered a driver toward the first tee and was safe. It came down to Johnson and Watney to see who had to pay. Watney holed a 10-foot birdie putt, and Johnson matched him from 8 feet.

They tied at 72. The question was whether they split the tab or had a chip-off.

?You should have figured that out on No. 2,? Mickelson said, making it clear he never expected to lose this game. They headed toward the Valley of Sin with their putters, even as a single behind them, Paul Streeter, was coming up the 18th.

?He?s getting in the way of our game,? one of the caddies said.

Watney and Johnson both got up-and-down with 8-foot putts when Watney suggested they split the cost of losing.

?I don?t split,? Johnson replied.

On the second putt-off, Watney came up short and Johnson made his 4-footer. Pay up, Nick.

Then it was off to the range, not nearly as much fun.

Tiger -165 over Phil.

Interesting that TIger has a new nike putter in the bag, first new putter in over a decade.

I still think he will be relevant this week.

In the groove: Tiger Woods will be using the Nike Method putter on the slower greens of St Andrews at the Open
Tiger Woods has been with his Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter for 11 years, but now the two are splitting up. The pair may just need some time apart or the move may become more permanent. Woods is putting a Nike Method into his bag for the Open at St Andrews this week.
The 'Method' putter was used by Stewart Cink during last year's Open victory and by Lucas Glover when he won the US Open. The holy grail of putting is "pure roll".

When most putts are struck the ball will leave the ground for 15 inches and then start to hop. Each month enhanced groove technology is developed to try to minimise that effect.
Woods has always putted brilliantly on the fast greens of Augusta with his Scotty Cameron, but has decided that he needs to change for the slower greens of St Andrews where he has to give the ball a bit more of a hit. So Scotty is out and Nike is in.
What Tiger says
"I've always struggled on slower greens (but in my practice rounds here) I haven't had to make that much of an adjustment because the ball is coming off a little bit quicker.
"This putter ... with the new groove technology ... rolls the ball better.
"[The change is] something (caddie) Stevie (Williams) and I have been talking about over the years - what can I do on slower greens?.
"I've always putted well on faster greens ... and can't wait to get to the fastest greens that we play on tour. But this week has been a little bit different.
"Some of my best putting rounds were when the greens were running at 14 or something like that on the stimpmeter [th device used to measure the speed of greens]. These greens aren't up to speed.
"Today one of the guys was out there doing a stimpmeter and it was under 10. I've always experimented with other putters throughout the years but I've never put one in play until now.
"You're going to have some real long putts here no matter how you hit it and you just have to get down in two. So many times you can three putt.
"The two years I've played well here I've lag putted beautifully and I've also hit the ball in the right spots."

Gotta like the value in the likes of Lehman at 100/1 top american with bluesq 1/4 e/w first 4. He's plenty experience on the course as a regular Dunhill Cup player and solid performance at Loch Lomond last week. Also Loren Roberts at 150/1 same market is in top form and could easily do a 'watson' this year.

Mickleson currently at 18/1 bluesq which has got to be value for the guy who has been best in the majors this year by far.
