Week 3 in the NFL was a dandy!
To cap off a great week the Saints came marching home with a cash victory on MNF. New Orleans had no trouble shooting down the favored Falcons to remain perfect at the ticket window with a 3-0 ATS record.
Just 90 seconds into a game that was a horrific year in the making, the Saints flopped on a ball in the end zone following a blocked punt and the party was on. The defense beat up Michael Vick. Tom Benson danced off the field with his parasol. Even "The Superdome Special" worked to perfection.
In an earsplitting return to their rebuilt stadium, the Saints gave the Big Easy something to cheer about with a 23-3 victory over the Falcons on Monday night.
This one couldn't have been scripted any better for a team that spent all of last season on the road, and it couldn't have come at a better time for a city that is still struggling to overcome the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
The Saints (3-0 SU & ATS) poured it on against the Falcons (2-1 SU & ATS), who fell behind 14-3 in the first quarter and never recovered. Devery Henderson scored New Orleans' second TD on an 11-yard double-reverse, taking a handoff from Bush and cutting inside the pylon with help from a gutsy block by quarterback Drew Brees.
The Falcons, coming off a franchise-record 306 yards on the ground against Tampa Bay, managed just 117 yards rushing on the inspired Saints. Vick had a miserable game, completing 12-of-31 for 137 yards.
Now that Week 3 is in the books it's time to look ahead to Week 4. The Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers have yet to drop the cash. All five teams compete in Week 4's day action as they attempt to continue building bankrolls here at BetRoyal.
In Sunday's night cap it's the Seattle Seahawks (3-0 SU & 2-1 ATS) heading into the windy city to face the Chicago Bears (3-0 SU & 2-1 ATS). The Seahawks have been getting the job done on offense, but for the Bears it's been a rock-solid defense that's been putting their backers at the ticket counter.
Last week, Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw five touchdown passes, as the high-octane offense put up 42 points in a romp over the Giants. But don't expect the Seahawks to run up and down the field Sunday night against the Bears' defense that's allowed just 23 points on the year.
MNF wraps things up when Brett Farve and the Green Bay Packers (1-2 SU & ATS) invade Philadelphia to take on the Eagles (2-1 SU & ATS).
Note: In Week 3, the dogs barked their way to a 10-4 ATS mark while the O/U record went 7-6-1.
