Conference Championships with BetRoyal.com

In this edition of The Royal Post we take a look at both conference games, and provide notable game trends and predictions all in efforts of putting you at the ticket counter with a cover win.

New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears

This will be one of the first times Rex Grossman has faced a team that plays a lot of man coverage, which forces a quarterback to make plays. I'm not sure Grossman can be as sharp as he was against a depleted Seattle secondary.

There will be big play opportunities for the Bears and Grossman has make the most of them. The Saints' cornerback Fred Thomas was susceptible to double moves and the Bears should take full advantage of this fact.

On the other side of the ball the Bears won't be able to play nearly as much downhill as they'd like because of the Saints' ability to attack in a variety of ways.

This Saints offense can be physical or finesse, play outside or inside and executes well on every level of the field. The Bears have to find a way to control them with their defensive line to stop this game from getting out of hand.

Notable game trends:

- Saints are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games.
- Saints are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games on Grass.
- Saints are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a road underdog.
- Saints are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as an underdog.
- Saints are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 vs. NFC.
- Saints are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in January.
- Bears are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.
- Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite.
- Bears are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games in January.
- Bears are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. NFC.
- Saints are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
- Underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

Prediction - New Orleans 21 Chicago 24

New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts

This game is going to be an epic battle that comes down to execution because both teams are so evenly matched. In years past the Patriots have come up with different schemes to stifle Peyton Manning.

The one constant in the Patriots' schemes is an ability to take away the big play from Manning. That is always the primary focus in stopping the Indianapolis offense.

The Patriots constantly change their looks and keep pressure on Manning, negating his ability to take advantage of mismatches down field.

On the flip side the Colts have a distinct advantage playing in the RCA Dome because of Dwight Freeney's presence. His speed and ability is going to be a major factor in this game. He has the ability to stay in Tom Brady's face and force him into poor throws much like the Chargers did in the divisional round.

But unlike the Chargers, the Colts aren't going to negate those positive gains with poor play.

Notable game trends:

- Patriots are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on Turf.
- Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog.
- Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Conference Championships games.
- Patriots are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games in January.
- Patriots are 36-17-2 ATS in their last 55 vs. AFC.
- Patriots are 48-22-3 ATS in their last 73 games overall.
- Colts are 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
- Colts are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite of 0.5-3.0.
- Colts are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Indianapolis.
- Patriots are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings.
- Underdog is 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings.

Prediction - New England 24 Indianapolis 34
