Just watched the 2 hour long documentary on college hoops on HBO.. It was just released this week and is a must watch.. The Scheme was to be 1st released at the South by Southwest films last month. The director of it lives here in Austin and I was going to try to see its premier.. but the C-19 wiped it out. Last yr I saw the premier of " Jumpshot heard around the world"..It was amazing and I wrote all about it here last year. Never heard of Kenny sailor from Wyoming and the 1943 team.. there were some of you that knew about Sailor and added to my post..still not in the hall of fame and should be....anyway watched The scheme last nite...amazing story about the FBI investigators dealing with some lower level people who worked with Miller, Pitino and Wade from LSU.. Never realized how bad the FBI were.. talk about entrapment ...everyone is guilty but no high profile coached went down there asst coaches did the FBI did such a bad job and I think cover up ed a lot .. Miller at Zona and Wade should be fired now they are on wiretap claiming they know nothing... yet you hear them discussing players and money...how these guys weren't subpoenaed in the court room has me scratching my head ...don't want to spoil it for anyone so you can watch it So many unanswered questions .. it hits home to me because I had a player who was the 2nd best player in NY State only behind Christian Latainer from Duke.. the big schools esp the Big East ones knew he didn't predict on the SAT's and had junior colleges lined up St Johns had San Jacinto in Tx,Georgetown had a juco in Marland, has Allengeny, URI,UMass,Hofstra and about 20 more all had him set up in Juco's .. then Ernie Lorch from Riverside church AAU the gauchos AAU, all got involved ..it was crazy and it was his mother that stepped up and told her son only I have the final say of who he meets and visits thats another long and boring ass story I did tell it here many years ago though.. my kid played at a Kansas juco and got his asso degree and played at St Peters..he was cut by Atlanta in the NBA and played in Europe for a few years.. Last summer his wife called me here in Texas and informed he passed away from Pancreatic cancer...I meet her and her son at a mall this summer and gave her his retired Jersey and some trophies ...he was 40 years old he still holds the FG% record in the NY State Final 4 and his scoring records and rebounding were finally broken after 20 years.. He was named No 2 NY State POY behind Dukes Christian L and they both went head to head in the Empire St games.. It was a man playing a boy...Buffalo region won by a few but my player schooled him ..no contest ..The games were played at Mann's field house home of the Cuse.. and yes Jimmy Boe watched him with Carnessca Thompson and over 100 other coaches ...
sorry got off the subject of the Scheme..interested to hear other takes ...it was good but seems like it left to many unanswered questions
