Hello Madjackers,

Just want to congratulate everyone on their patriotism today. Have read damn near all of the posts on the dark topic today just now and my eyes are sore from reading so much.
a hearty OOH RAH to all.

And now, I will lay down a challenge to everyone who reads these posts, or put one up themselves today... which was virtually every regular poster in here.

it's quite simple really... one word.

GIVE

Give something. None of us in here are hurting for money.... take a look at some of the records for the seasons/sports. Give a little bit of it to help out all those that just had their lives wiped out.
For those of you with -100 unit seasons thus far, or took a bad hit on the vikes this weekend, GIVE BLOOD.
Its free, its free and by golly you usually get a donut and a glass of OJ when you are done!
Not donating a single thing after today's events would be utterly disgusting and incomprehensible after reading the support on the site.
Give food, give clothes, give money, give blood, give time helping to clean up the city. GIVE SOMETHING!
Think about it... giving any one of those things is a mere drop in the bucket compared to what people lost today.

And for all you hard core mutha f*ckers out there (and we all know who you are...) have i got a deal for you...
March your happy ass down to the recruiting office and tell the man behind the desk you are ready to go out and wreak a little hate and discontent on the rest of the world...
Be it reserves (one weekend a month... come on! who cant give that up? and you get PAID too!)
or full fledged active duty, standing there on the flight deck saluting the flag every morning in your uniform...

I know there are a bunch of college geeks in here... get down to your ROTC unit and talk to them! hell, they pay for your college and THEN you get to go blow shit up.

Be it $10 or $100... or a pint of blood... if you do not give a single thing here you should be disgusted with yourself!

Good luck with the rest of your wagering seasons.

ooh rah gentlemen,
Time to go fight a war.
Marine,
out

Marine,

Earlier today donated blood, took in 2 Amercian couples to sleep overnight instead of sleeping at the airport, and tomorrow going to help out at the food bank.

Come on guys, Marine has a point here, lets all help out.

kick ass TTM$$$!
I tell ya what... The canadiens opening up their homes to "strangers" after this event is outstanding! NUmerous times I have been invited into people's homes through a "sponsor program" at various duty stations. These people opened up their homes to us strangers and cooked us meals, gave us damn near everything they wanted (except for their 19 year old daughter one time...) and made us feel welcome when we were kinda stuck for places to go to spend the nights.
On that same note, I operate the same policy in my home. If I am ever at the airport coming home off leave, or just happen to run into a fellow serviceman getting off a plane at his new duty station and has no place to head for the night yet... my door is open. I tell ya, it is one of the most rewarding feelings you can get when the next morning they leave and say thank you for your hospitality. Hell, sometimes you can even make a few friends along the way.
Talk with em, hang out with em, treat em like a long lost pal, and you will get a pal for a long long time.

I know 3 friends personally who have taken in some American families. I think I will shed a tear when the 2 couples I took in will leave tomorrow, made some nice friends.

They have read this board as I type right now and they are delighted to see their fellow Americans helping out others. One guy named Daniel said he never knew where Canada was located, but from now on, Canada will always be in his heart and he will be sure to look up Canada in an atlas to see where it is located.

I just returned from Toronto this past weekend. Deeply into hockey and Toronto is the Mecca, so to speak, of hockey. Maybe Mecca is the wrong choice of words in light of what has happened. I have many friends now in Canada. We are lucky to count the Canadian people as our ally. Thanks for the support. Let's hope that we can severely punish those responsible.

The Canadians have been perceived as our silent friend for a long, long time. They will no longer be viewed as simply our "neighbor from the North" anymore. They have met the challenge in a big way. Congratulations to all of you!
