A week of first evers for myself. First time ever I could care less about the Fed-Ex Cup. First time ever I care nothing about the President's Cup. First time ever in my life I'm betting on this guy to win a golf tournament. Why? Why what? Why everything you just said?

The Tour Championship. A really good tournament week. Or used to be anyway. Now it's all mucked up with a contrived extra deal, the FECup. Gotta get that company slogo in there. Hell, it's bought and paid for.

The Tour Champ, was once a stand alone tournament that invited the top 30 money winners for a year end get together. A good idea and good for the pros that made it in. Problem was, some of the very best pros were skipping it. Why? Because the season ended with the PGA Tournament. What the hell, the Tour Champ. is an all-star event, and all all-star events are basically ceremonial. We all know that. Soooo----

Mickelson to win 26.00-sia

72 holes
Mick over Goosen -110

Think about this one. Who's the better golfer? The number 2 guy in the whole world, and has been for a long time? Or Goosen, the guy who's better right now? Is Goosen taking over the 2 spot for good and all? Hell no. That's rediculous. I actually think Phil's going to win this bet. I could be wrong. This is the first time I've ever bet with Phil. I've bet against Lefty many times.

I have a feeling a Luke Donald sneak attack is in order

1st round leader Donald 35/1
Luke Donald to win 80/1

Realistically, Winner w/o Woods

Z Johnson 12/1
Cink 40/1
Glover 40/1

Round 1 plays (2pts):

Mike Weir to beat Ernie Els +100 @ FiveDimes
I'd make Weir the favourite in this match. A former champion from 2001, Weir's last two appearances at East Lake have yielded finishes of 4th and 6th - Els' 6th place finish last year was his best performance at East Lake since 2000 - and he has been much more consistent than Els lately. But even though Weir has been the more consitent player over 72-holes, that is not the case when starting events. In terms of the 1st round only, Weir leads Els 10-1-1 h2h in 2009.

Mike Weir to beat David Toms +100 @ FiveDimes [also available @ Bet365]
Since his playoff loss to Weir in 2001 and 3rd place finish in 2002, Toms has largely struggled to break par at East Lake since then. With his form some way below that of Weir - he has finished ahead of the Canadian just once since May - there is little to suggest that Toms should be priced as the favourite in this match.

Scott Verplank to beat Sean O'Hair +110 @ SkyBet and Paddy Power [available generally]
Verplank has played at East Lake five times, averaging less than 69 over those 20 rounds and finishing 5th, 14th, 7th, 3rd, and 5th. Having also finished in the top-10 in two of the three Playoff events so far, he does look set for another high finish on this course.

Can't thank you enough for this. Was cruising through here the other day, saw you posted this. Couldn't believe Phil was 26-1 in a 30 man field. Took a shot and got 25-1 at my book. Put $25 on it. Thanks!!!!

Nice hit fellas. Didn't expect Mick to do much in the playoffs. Shaping up nicely for a huge run in the Presidents Cup :toast:
