What a trip it was! I had a great time. The traffic getting there and back sucked but who cares.
I had a gas. We had great weather, is not a bit hot, but no rain.
I got there Thursday about 2p and I think Jaek had already hit a couple handpays on the Video Poker machines and Brent (RollTide) was stuck in the broken bridge traffic so Joker, Betone and myself hit the twilight at Tunica National where I proceeded to lose at least 14 straight bets to Joker because he can actually play the game of golf... quite well I might add. Let me just say this, Nick, Steve, and Brent are excellent golfers and it is truly impressive to see these guys play the game. I've never seen anyone that can turn it on and focus like Nick did Saturday. So, I'm not a good player and we all know that, I've worked on my game and gotten better as of late and I had some good shots. These guys are a whole different level.
I think Betone played the same ball all three days... lol... seriously. He doesn't miss. The guys a machine. Everything is straight down the damn middle, ball above his feet? Down the middle. Below his feet, down the middle. He just knows how to play the game.
Joker can smash the ball when he wants to, can putt from a frigging treetop at 80 yards out and leave no doubt it's in the cup. It's one of the most impressive things to watch man it really is. The guy is never out of it, never. I can't even explain it. Big shot after big shot.
When you're not good like myself and you watch these guys play, it leaves an indelible impression. I can't say enough about it.
And my teammate, the guy who carried me both days was RollTide. I now know why his lifelong nickname is Big Stud. He hasn't picked up the sticks more than a couple times in the last couple years and he still comes out and absolutely smashes it. He is automatic. He has no weakness in his game whatsoever. He made me a better player in several ways, not only by just watching but he helped me with my putting, address, everything and still managed to win with me as an anchor. I can't tell you how many times he talked me off the ledge and still saved the hole. Amazing.
Jaek didn't really play much, he should have eaten an egg salad sandwich and a piece of cake before jumping out in that heat on about 3 hours sleep.
I have no excuses, I just suck.
Fun fact, Sleepless in Seattle was filmed there on hole 2 or 3.
While the golf was fun, the friendships and tone spent hanging out and having a good time is the best part of this and all these trips.
I'll never know better people. I am truly humbled and exceedingly grateful to call them friends. It was such a good time man, whether it was at the bar or the buffet, I was laughing and enjoying myself the entire time. I did get a bit drunk Saturday but that's okay. It happens. In all, I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed seeing these fine gentlemen. I am a lucky man in many ways.
Hope this helps,
FDC
