Pitt. is everybodies big play this week eg.#1 pick in the Hilton contest and it seems 90% of the rest of the world 'loves' Pitt. The line is still -7.. Why???
Everybody seems to be pounding Washington as well and this number has gone up to -8 1/2 or-9. Why??? Dallas is number 4 pick in Hilton contest and there are a large number of guys here ,although we are in the minority, taking the Dog.
I know most guys play Favs. more than Dogs, but I just can't figure out why the Steelers number has not moved with all the buzz that they are this weeks 'big play'.
So, who is betting all the Vikes money ???
Thanks,Spanky. Love Dallas myself...

dallas is not the #4 pick. it was chosen by about 35 contestants, as opposed to 22 for washington, for a percentage for/against of 61%. the low number of picks combined in themselves suggest a lack of interest, or doubt, one way or the other.

pitt, on the other hand, and with a line of 7, got 101 votes as the number 1 pick, which is definitely a statement as far as the hilton contest is concerned.

p.s. edit

i believe i am in the minority backing wash, both from posts here and the lowly hilton numbers.

Thanks Pep, Yes I screwed up my facts on the Wash. pick rank.
But my question, (if you feel you are)is why the Skins are moving so much (line opened at -7) and especially, why is the Steeler line NOT moving????? I was just using the Hilton Contest as an example, no more than that.
Thanks ...Spanky...

don't have a clue as to why one moves and another doesn't. from a business perspective, you are "forced" to do it when betting is lob-sided.

only exception may be if a big (ger) book takes all your imbalances.

i try not to get hung up with this type of stuff. it may be significant once in a while, but not enough in my view to lose track of the pick and the reasons for it.ditto in many ways with the weather. a very cold field with high winds could be very significant to the outcome of a game, but other than that, side wise, i don't worry much.

the dallas/wash game is interesting from the hilton guys'perspective. i wrote elsewhere that for me, the "killer" line would be 10 1/2, as i expect wash to hold at least a 10 point margin at the end. had it come in that way, it might very well have been the number 1 selection. even i, as sure as i feel wash will win easily, might consider the other side at that price.

anyway, can't wait to get that adrenaline flowing tomorrow.

ok, that is the second correction, and a darn good reason for taking pitt at less than a td.

it makes perfect sense.

Spanky i like Minny , and absolutely love Dallas , will be my biggest bet of the yr by far, Huge Steeler fan here and if i can get 8 ill be on Minny with ya small, i just hate rooting vs my Steelers. But 8 points is huge in the NFL. Found a good angle on going vs my Boys as well.
