This past weekend's action from a bookmaker's point-of-view

THE GOOD, THE BLAH, AND THE UGLY?..
This weekend saw the house making a small profit off of an NBA knockout, an uneventful weekend of baseball, and a pathetic Mike Tyson fight.
The Good: Sunday night saw us absolutely drowning in Piston money. Our players saw little chance of the defending world champions losing two in a row to the Spurs. The line opened with San Antonio favored by 6 ? and closed at 5 ? (-105) after dipping as low a -5 (-115) for a moment. Two major handicappers released the Pistons as well which helped account for the surprising 5:1 ticket count. The game going over was a bonus, and virtually very teaser dies with the 21 point blow out.
The Blah: Baseball was back and forth with San Diego knocking off the White Sox, and the Marlins with Al Leiter knocking off the ?gambler? Kenny Rogers and the Rangers both being good for the house. To counteract those victories, the Atlanta Braves beating Oakland and Randy Wolf and the Phillies beating the Brewers were not so kind to the house. All in all baseball was a wash this weekend.
The Ugly: Mike Tyson. Virtually no one was silly enough to lay -900 on ?Iron? Mike. We were taking lots of smaller bets on Kevin McBride though at +650. Those small bets added up to be the biggest losing event we saw this weekend. On a personal note I am glad to see Tyson retiring. It feels like I have gotten the shaft every time I have ever booked or bet Mike Tyson. When he was unstoppable it was like giving away free money. The last few years I have taken nothing but money against Tyson and that hasn?t worked out to well either. Good bye Mike.
Until next week, when we?ll wrap it all up again?.May all you wagers be winners.
