A look back at this past weekend from a bettor?s point-of-view

By Jimmy Mason,MyBookie Director of Sportsbook

This past Saturday felt like nothing less than New Year?s Day, what with all the top name NCAA football match-ups being offered.

First off, Minnesota showed they still don?t quite belong with the elite teams yet, blowing another 4th quarter lead against Michigan (See last years 4th quarter meltdown.). This may have cost them the Big 10 title. As we say in sports betting, ?It?s not whether you win or lose, it?s did you cover the spread?, and the Gophers were kind enough to cover the 3 ? point spread for the house.

Underrated Cal hung tough with USC losing 23-17. They covered the 7? points, and made quite a bit of money anyone taking the Dog. Personally, I was very surprised to see a count for on that game for
MyBookie was over 4 tickets to 1 on USC. People seem to forget that the Cal came into this game ranked #7 in the nation, and were the only team in the land to defeat USC last season, costing them sole possession of the national championship.

Oklahoma beat Texas 12-0 in a defensive showdown, as last years #1 ranked prep player Adrian Peterson (from East Texas!) added insult to injury by rushing for 225 yards, and helping to eat away the clock for the Sooners.

The winner of the ?Couldn?t happen to a nicer team? award goes to Nebraska who got clobbered 70-10 by the high octane Red Raiders of Texas Tech. Nebraska just received a bit of college football?s version of karma. Ex-Cornhusker coach Tom Osborne was infamous for running up the scores on helpless teams. How does it feel Husker fans?

It always amazes me to see the drop off in our volume in baseball during the playoffs. The drop-off happens seasonally simply because there is football to bet. The playoffs provide the perfect time for the recreational better to strike! The Red Sox swept the Angels, and thereby cashing win all three money line, run line, totals over, and series price tickets! The Cardinals also pounded the Dodgers twice this week, and Roger Clemens did what he does best?Win big games. All in all there were a lot winning baseball parlays this week, but not as many as there probably should have been.

Well, that?s it for this past weekend. Till next week?.
