There?s One NFL Wager Left at betED.com
The big one?s over, but the next ? and last ? one is on tap this weekend.
Whether you won or lost, get over your Super Bowl wagering hangover and place a bet on this weekend?s Pro Bowl.
www.betED.com has all the bets you?ll need to get in on the action for this Saturday?s final NFL event. Who will win the Pro Bowl? AFC -4(-105), NFC +4(-105). Or, in what is usually a high-scoring affair, take a chance on the Over/Under ? O66 (-105), U66(-105).
If you think players don't get excited about going to the Pro Bowl ? which will be broadcast by CBS ? think again.
"I don't take it for granted, because it's not easy [to make the Pro Bowl]," said Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas, who was on hand at the Super Bowl XLI media center to talk about the Pro Bowl, along with Chiefs running back Larry Johnson and Cowboys safety Roy Williams.
This will be the seventh Pro Bowl appearance for Thomas, the fourth for Williams and the second for Johnson.
Thomas, with his seventh Pro Bowl nod, has now been selected to play in the all-star game more times than any defensive player in Miami Dolphins history. The 33-year-old Thomas, who just completed his 11th season in the NFL, said he appreciates the honor -- especially considering the long list of excellent linebackers in the AFC.
"They keep getting younger and I keep getting older," he said, "but I'm still here."
Thomas will be joined on the AFC roster by Miami teammate Jason Taylor and San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman.
Meanwhile, Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher suffered a toe injury in the Super Bowl and will not play in the Pro Bowl. He will be replaced by Antonio Pierce of the New York Giants on the NFC team.
"I am too excited to even think about it," Pierce said of his first Pro Bowl selection in six NFL seasons. "This is something that I have been waiting to get to since I have been a starter. It does not matter how you get there, as an alternate or a starter. It is an honor that I will take and carry with me for the rest of my career."
