In New Orleans, people say ?it gets dark early? al year long When talking about a place that as well attended by black people.
A sub from Cali I work with the last 6 weeks is half black, but you can?t tell by looking at him. Someone told him the French Quarter gets dark early nowadays a couple of weeks ago. He didn?t know what it meant and thought the Person telling him that was just extremely dumb thinking that certain neighborhoods experience sunset earlier than others. When he told us the story at lunch last week, We explained what they meant. He wasn?t pissed at all, And he said that because he doesn?t look black at all. ??when I tell you he doesn?t look black at all I mean there?s no fucking chance I would?ve ever guessed he has black dad?- He hears crazy racist shit all the time. Lives in LA area and doesn?t feel oppressed despite Having kind of an inside look at how white people talk about black people when they don?t think black people are around. I told him he probably gets a lot less of that stuff in Calli, and he said not true at all. He calls it an inside look. He also said he hears Just as much racist shit from black people back home Because he looks white and in his words, ?talks white?. Really Interesting dude.
