My dad is going to visit my sister for a week and I would have liked to go along but with having my kids next week I couldn't. My dad and sister pested me to see if I could switch with my ex but at this short of notice I said I couldn't. Well last night apparently my daughter was talking to her dad about her and my son going with me later in the year and then she mentioned that my dad was going next week and that if they weren't at my house I could have gone too but wasn't. So the ex calls and says "Hey if you really want to go we will keep the kids for your week and trade you a week later on". I was flabbergasted. I got the last ticket on one of the flights and got everything booked last night. So Sunday when I "drive my dad to the airport" he will have no idea I'm going along until we get there to park. My sister has no idea I'm coming until we get off the plane in Texas. I'm so excited I can hardly wait til Sunday. I know she said they were going to spend some time at the River Walk and some other things.

What about places to eat??

Things that are a must see??

We will be there Sunday the 14th til Sunday the 21st.

Must sees depend on the person, except for the obvious like the Alamo and Riverwalk. I love live music, Floore's Country Store and Gruene Hall would be on my must sees.
If you're into nature - Natural Bridge Caverns would be a must see. And if there were water and it was a little warmer, a toobing trip would be a must do for me.
I also like Art (funky art) and Antique shopping. To that end:
Southwest School of Art & Craft http://www.swschool.org/index_flash.php
Monte Wade http://www.montewadefinearts.com/
San Angel Folk Art Gallery http://www.sanangelfolkart.com
Gallery Vetro http://www.galleryvetro.com/
Artistic Endeavors lavillita.com/index.php/?artistic-endeavors
Found lavillita.com/index.php/?found
Alamo Antique Mall - 125 Broadway
Back Alley Antiques - www.artisansalley.com
Antique Mall San Antonio - 13032 Nacogdoches

I have to say to do the mission trail cause it very interesting & also Natural Bridge Caverns is very interesting. www.naturalbridgecaverns.com those are some great suggestions.
If you like Museum then visit the Witte lots of good things there www.wittemuseum.org
San Fernando Cathedral www.sfcathedral.org
SA Botanical Garden www.sabot.org
Japanese Tea Gardens in Brackenridge Park & it's FREE http://www.wildtexas.com/parks/bracken.php or www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/japanhis.asp
You could visit a western town that is consider the capital of cowboys LOL that is Bandera www.banderacowboycapital.com
If you like shopping & like unique type then check out The Shops at La Cantera www.theshopsatlacantera.com it's an open air shopping environment in the middle they have water fountains & places to relax as you walk to the different shops to me it's very refreshing way to shop.
Also you could visit the Market Square www.marketsquaresa.com
Drive thru the King William Historic District beautiful homes www.kingwilliamassociation.org
Visit the old Pearl Brewery complex www.pearlbrewery.com & then grab a bite at Josephine St great food with the TX home cook comfort foods. A must have is the onion rings so yummy & the steaks are very good & reasonable. www.josephinestcafe.com
Also since you have a car go to El Chaparral www.elchaparral.com for good Mexican food.
I also agree about visiting Floore Country-store for eats or dancing. www.liveatfloores.com
Hope you have a great visit any more ??? just ask.

I was there for a week in 2011. Four things that were notable: it's a quiet town; public transportation isn't that great - although cabs weren't overly expensive; Mexican food was great; it was hella HOT each and every day!!!

Most everything revolves around the Riverwalk area, so there are things to do there. And besides the Alamo, another interesting place was the Market Square.

Have fun.

Peace! :)
