Cop pulled his gun on me here in my town.

I had stopped at a "road closed" sign on my road to move it so I could get to my business and fill the generators with fuel as the power had been out for an extended period.

He pulled out from a house's driveway with his lights and siren blaring, right behind my truck.

I had already moved the sign and was walking back to my truck.

He threw open his door with his gun drawn and told me to get down on the ground, face down with my hands where he could see them, (swear words omitted here.)

I must have looked and acted incredulous.

I was kneeling down and yelling at the cop who I was, when a city vehicle showed up and the driver started yelling at the cop to knock it off, that I was just trying to get to my property.

Cop screamed at me to never approach a cop car, got back into his car and left.

Young cop....late 20's. I had not gone near his car. City worker must have told the mayor because later that day, the mayor called me to apologize and asked if I wanted to file a report.

I said no.

The mayor then told me I should have a sign in the back of my truck that says who I am so that the police would know.

Seriously?

I had to make a domestic violence call for neighbor 2 weeks ago,
4 LEO vehicles 2 deputies per rig
3 show up at my AO while the others spread out to provide cover
I'm sitting in my garage and ordered to stand up and put my hands behind my back
My reply 'Fuck you, put your weapons away, I made the fucking call, the problem is next door'
They pause, call their SGT Supervisor who approached me and asked
'Whats the trouble?'
I restated that I made the call and the trouble is next door
He asked if he could sit and discuss the issue
I comply and give him the run down, he shakes his head,
Apologizes and offers his card. I take it
He asks me if I normally speak to Deputies in such a profane manner?
Only when I am ordered to do something by a LEO when I'm on private property,

Another deputy approaches, says hey Lumi!
Tells the SGT that I am one of the good guys and asks me to break out my AR?!?
WTF ! He wants me to show his boss my girl friend !

Well, ssd and Lumi, you both point out the lack of professionalism by local cops/county mounties. They've got the whip out your weapon problem.

It happens every day. Local cops blow away some kid who is unarmed because they're scared shitless, a result of piss-poor selection and lax training.

If you two had been black or hispanic, you'd probably be dead. Being white saved your asses, barely.

Used to be, in order to become a LEO, you had to pass some serious evaluation about your ability to keep cool in a potentially hot situation. Nowadays it's all Rambo shit. Thank the fear-mongering NRA, GoOA and other hate and fear mongering groups.
