And then there was one.
The St. Louis Rams are the last of the league's unbeaten teams, going to 4-0 with a rather routine 35-0 victory Monday night over the abysmal Detroit Lions.
The Greatest Show on Earth continues to get even better.
The Rams already have beaten the Eagles on the road, the 49ers on the road and the Dolphins at home. Aside from those team's losses to the Rams, they are a combined 8-1.
That makes what the Rams have done even more impressive, and raises the questions as to whether they can be stopped.
Can the Rams have a perfect season ??
Looking at it from a schedule standpoint, plus taking into a account the way the Rams are playing, a perfect season is not out of the question.
Those old Dolphins just might start getting a little nervous.
This week's Power Rankings, with last week's rankings in parentheses:
1. St. Louis Rams (1): How much better can this offense get? Is an unbeaten season possible?
2. Baltimore Ravens (5): The champs have showed the past two weeks they will not go away without a fight.
3. Oakland Raiders (4): The score was a little tight against the Cowboys, but the game wasn't that close.
4. Denver Broncos (6): The offense went back to the running game, and it clicked against the Chiefs.
5. New York Giants (7): It wasn't pretty against Washington, but a victory over St. Louis could vault this team to the top.
6. Green Bay Packers (2): Should be unbeaten, blowing a game they should have won against Tampa Bay.
7. Miami Dolphins (8): New England proved to be a perfect tonic to right the ills from the St. Louis loss.
8. Indianapolis Colts (9): An off week will help prepare for the Raiders on Sunday night.
9. New Orleans Saints (10): That defense makes them a contender for the whole thing.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12): It wasn't pretty, but they got it done against the Packers. Watch out for the Titans this week.
11. Philadelphia Eagles (3): Got caught looking ahead to the Giants, which is a major sin in this league.
12. San Francisco 49ers (16): The offense we know about, but that defense has improved a bunch.
13. Cleveland Browns (17): Butch Davis has this team playing with a swagger.
14. Chicago Bears (23): The defense may be one of the better units in the league.
15. San Diego Chargers (11): Doug Flutie couldn't pull off the miracle at the end against the Browns.
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (21): As long as the Bus is moving, this team will stay in games.
17. New York Jets (22): It's amazing what the Bills can do to cure a team's problems. Big one with Miami this week.
18. Seattle Seahawks (26): That victory over the Browns is looking better and better every week.
19. Atlanta Falcons (15): Losing at home to the Bears is a major hit to this team's playoff dreams.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (13): Injuries have contributed to this team taking a free fall down the rankings.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (19): In two weeks, the Bengals have gone back to their old ways.
22. Tennessee Titans (14): They're playing for their season Sunday against the Bucs.
23. Minnesota Vikings (18): Without an offensive line, they can get little done on offense.
24. Kansas City Chiefs (20): So where's this great offense Dick Vermeil was supposed to have brought with him?
25. Arizona Cardinals (29): An impressive road win against the Eagles might jump-start the season.
26. Carolina Panthers (25): Remember how good this team felt about itself after beating the Vikings on opening day?
27. New England Patriots (24): Without Drew Bledsoe for a while this is going to make for a long, long season.
28. Dallas Cowboys (30): At least Anthony Wright can move the ball when he's in at quarterback.
29. Washington Redskins (31): They played the Giants tough, so that moves them up a couple of spots.
30. Buffalo Bills (28): This reclamation project is going to take a lot of time.
31. Detroit Lions (27): At least the Redskins put up a fight. This staff is overmatched.
