Has a "where are they now?" feature...
The two pieces that really made me smile and do some reminiscing where the ones about Mark "The Bird" Fidrych and the kids who acted in "The Bad News Bears"
Both Bird and the movie were just HUGE in the summer of 1976, and I was 11.MyReds were coming off a World Series title in '75, and were looking to repeat in '76(they did).... and the Bird was talking to baseballs and smoothing out the mound all over the country.
Meanwhile, on the big screen, a bunch of misfit kids playing little league baseball(sponsored by Chico's Bail Bonds.....

)
were making me and my buddies laugh our asses off... we must have seen the movie 3 or 4 times that summer.......

My family and I also spent 3 weeks that summer in Montreal at the Olympic games........ what a great summer to be an 11 year old kid.....

This is a great issue....

I especially enjoyed the where are they now segment - it was well written and made you think back in time a little bit.

yeah, i'm in town.......thinking about the dugout tonight, which should be hoppin' right in the heart of softball season...... my kids are in Peoria thru the day today, and their grandparents are bringing them back to Bishops at 5:00, gonna eat there with my dad and aunt and the kids, then do something that keeps the monsters busy (like the sand pit at dugout)

i'd be looking at about the six thirty/seven range for getting there....hope you and Jaci can come, it'll be a GREAT sit oudoor and party night tonight, and i need to meet a local softball player down here, too

....the guy i've been dating at home these past few weeks is just NOT gonna cut it

MOST COOL!!! now i KNOW i'll be there

let's see, it'll be packed tonight, soooooo...i'll give ya some info...i'll either be wearing a black tube top and purple or green shorts, or a swimming suit with purple or green shorts over it, and black sandals.....i'll be the one yelling at the kids not to run on to the fields, too ....LOL (chances are, i'll be outside, rather than in the bar, too)

maybe we should pick a diamond number (NOT that i remember how they are numbered, tho)
