Going to Vegas October 13-16th and strongly considering staying at GVR..I have always stayed at the Mirage or MGM but wanted something a little different this time actually the wife wanted something a little more vacation like...Any insight from personal experiences pro or con would be appreciated....thanks in advance

Doochuk, my wife and I visited GVR on our last trip to Vegas. It was very nice. Stayed out there around 4 hours. Played most of the time there. Since then they have offered us more comps (free rooms) than any other casino in Vegas we have ever stayed at. They run a free shuttle back and forth to the strip so visiting the strip is no problem. Have fun. We are heading out sometime this fall , not sure of the exact dates yet. If it happens to fall on the same dates as yours I'll try and hook up with you. Good Luck

I used to live walking distance to there. I definitely recommend it. Very spacious casino, great pool, cool club and bars, and a pretty neating new shopping-eating area right next to it called "The District" worth walking to. If your a little tired of the regular crowded Vegas routine this is an excellent alternative. Really nices views of the city from there too.

Great casino, area is much nicer than that around the strip, still plenty of good places to eat, and not too far from the strip should you want to go there.

I had a sales meeting there last August for three days and thought it was very nice. Great pool and martini bar. Didn't really have much success at the tables until I moved down into the Strip.

Top of the line area. That is where Jeri is now. Asst. Director of Conventions and Catering . She was hired away from Aladdin about 4 months ago . Only 10 mins from our house, very safe and more of a upscale area all around you.

Only 1 of 3 5 star 4 diamond resorts in Vegas and Henderson or NV. which is very hard to achieve , it is very nice. Great pool and spa nice golf tie ins. Lots of fun at night you never know who will be buying the drinks and throwing the money around.

You have the district that is filled with places to eat and things to do and cab to strip if they take 215 is only 10 bucks. go 215 to las vegas blvd. GVR staff will also take you to the strip just have to ask your casino host.

You have to be top of the line resort to get a 5 star 4 diamond rating from triple a and leisure magazine. Best time to hit machines is after midnight about 1 am till 4 after people stuffed them all day, tables just look for a hot one.

Pool and spa are great I am up there 2-3 times a week enjoying the pool.

Whiskey bar can really hop late at night just depends who might be there. Last week you had lot of nfl , nba guys there, shaq and r.wallace together. Also had a super model bikini contest on Sunday ay the pool. Have big pool party almost every Sunday and fri night. Never know what will go on or who will drop in last sun was just unreal.

Will see stars from sports teams to rock , movies and models while you are there partying all night. Lines are not to bad at sports book you can do better right down the road they really don't care to much about the sports. They cater to tables.

It is a top of the line resort and not saying that just because Jerri is the Asst. Dir of Conventions and Catering there now.

Best food is in the district the gorilla bar, clam jumpers and lucille's barbque. if you go to lucillie's get the bbq tri tip platter it is great.

It is a place you should really enjoy.

I am meeting ferdville there on sat after I catch a few games at the Reebok big-time aau tournament held all around Henderson started today at 9 am 300 aau teams best of the best play in it. and will be there with him and his wife Sunday at the pool party Sunday.

Worth staying there 1 time or many times , but some people want the strip. Like I said not far to the strip in car, cab or by GVR staff.

You will love it. I have stayed everywhere on the strip and GVR is my favorite place, wife;s too - will never go anywhere else. All dealers and floor people are great. Pretty easy to get comped. Have a food court if you want it cheap and fast. Good buffet. Steak house should open soon. Now have 24 hour cafe. The Original Pancake House is great. If you need more there are many top restaurants you can walk to across the street. Pool area is fantastic. Visit a new area, The Pond. If you are lucky you will catch some string bikinis. They used to go topless there but you can see it from some of the rooms (trust me, I know which ones). You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Ferd---i am looking forward to it-----after about 16 trips to Vegas I am a little burnt out on the strip so GVR sounds like a great alternative
