Florida Marlins @ Montreal Expos

We'll go with the red-hot Florida Marlins as a small road favorite today against the Montreal Expos.

In five meetings this season the Marlins have outscored the Expos by an unbelievable 23 runs to five and we expect their dominance to continue today.

The reigning World Champion Marlins have allowed just 13 runs to be scored against them in their eight games so far this season. They go for their seventh straight win tonight following consecutive shutouts of Montreal and have not allowed a single run in 21 innings. The Marlins scored in each of the first five innings last night and had 15 hits to the Expos eight.

Montreal have undoubtedly the worst offense in baseball right now having scored just seven runs in their last six games. They are hitting just .198 overall this season and averaging just 1.2 runs per game. The Expos are yet to score more than three runs or have more than eight hits in any games this season. We don't expect them to be able to get back on track tonight against a team they have lost to in 12 of their last 14 meetings.

There is no obvious edge to tonight's pitching match-up. Expos starter Zach Day is 13-9 lifetime with a 4.04 ERA. In his only start this season he allowed two earned runs in five innings against the Mets but didn't figure in the decision. Meantime Marlins righty Carl Pavano is 39-50 lifetime with a 4.59 ERA as he looks to continue on from an impressive 2003 postseason. He was solid in his first outing this season, allowing eight hits and three earned runs against the Phillies.
