I am very confident in Cubbies..hot bats+great pitching=wins
The Chicago Cubs hope to keep swinging hot bats as they play the finale of a four-game series with the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds, meanwhile, come in with losses in six of their last eight, thanks to a breakdown by their pitching staff. Cincinnati hurlers walked a season-high 11 on Wednesday, and they have allowed at least eight runs in four of the last five games.
The starting pitchers have been the biggest culprit of all, as they continue to leave too many innings for the bullpen. Reds' started Paul Wilson lasted just 3 2-3 innings on Wednesday, a day after Danny Graves pitched only five.
"You can't go through a rotation of starters and take them out (so early)," Reds manager Bob Boone said. "When you do that you are going to have troubles no matter how great your bullpen is." :violin:
Toronto has hit Weaver hard in past.
Blue Jays - OF Wells has six hits in 12 at-bats in this series. ... 1B Delgado is hitting .455 with three doubles, a triple, a homer and six RBIs in 22 career at-bats against Weaver. ... 3B Eric Hinske has also fared well against Weaver, hitting .462 (6-for-13) with a homer and three RBIs.
