SMU won the first matchup at Nevada by 14. . . however, Nevada shot very poorly and SMU looked like they had the game of their life.

You raise a damn good question!

smu has won the last 3@ home by 12,on the road by14&5.The last game they played smu shot 50% vs 33% for Nevada. But Hancock played 1 min & 0pts. Hancock is a 6-4 sr,31min,20pt guy.He did not play the other night vs Tulsa and came back to a poor shooting night but went 11-15 from the line to get his 20pts.I would have thought this line would have been moore.Nevada in the first game had 4 guys a total of 16pts under their average, but Hancock should account for 15to20pts.One pattern in the schedule, the only two times Smu has played back to back road games and come home, they have lost the first, won the second, and lost the first home game.Nevada plays small& smu has a little more experience & depth at size.I would lean on SMU.Does anyone follow SMU ? Why was Hancock out the other day, and why did he only play1min the last vs Nevada?

Buddy --

I've learned a lot from your Handicapping 101 class and hopefully I've learned enough to move on to 201 next semester.

Q. Why is SMU giving Nevada 7.5 points?

A. Since you've taught me that VEGAS DOESN'T HAND OUT GIFTS, it must mean that SMU is going to win big tonight. In their first match-up, SMU won at Nevada by 14 without their leading scorer Damon Hancock (20.2 ppg) who was out for that game with a sprained ankle.

SMU outrebounded Nevada in that first game 41-29.

Hancock is back; he's coming off a poor shooting performance against Rice (just 4 for 17 from the field, but he was 11-15 from the line) and he has a tendency to have a real big night after a bad game (look at what happened after Hawaii stopped him).

Extra credit question: What does this mean?

Nevada is 6-3-1 ATS and 6-4 SU in L10.
SMU is 4-6 ATS and 4-6 SU in L10.
SMU is favored by 7.5 points and the line is going up.

Answer: SMU -7.5
