it's been a madhouse for me workwise of late after returning from being out for 3 months because of my neck operation. until i get caught up a little more i probably won'y have time for extensive writeups, but i'll still be working hard on my college football 'capping and will try to post a little bit of backround and reasoning with my plays. early season has been kind so far, tonight i see a couple that look worthwhile.

san diego state +16-: probably a popular play tonight so i wouldn't be surprised to see the line drop a little before gametime, but anything over two td's is fine with me. i was not really impressed by fresno's narrow loss to a wisconsin team that appears to be overrated again this year. san diego state should surely be improved, if only because of the jump in talent at qb.

wake/niu over 54-: both of these teams appear to have offenses that should be ahead of the defenses at this early stage of the season. don't see much that would indicate this game will play out any differently than last year. just a note to those who are really sold on a side in this game - wake's personnel and style of play make them one of the hardest teams around to handicap and predict imo. last year the deacons were 6-5, but they were a total of 14 points away from being 2-9 and 26 points away from being 10-1. might be a good idea to wait and catch the deacs as double-digit dogs later in the season.

good luck to all in your plays.

Grady, Berrian miss Bulldogs' game against San Diego State

August 29, 2002

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Quarterback Jeff Grady and receiver Bernard Berrian were held out of Fresno State's game against San Diego State on Thursday night because of injuries.

Grady, the successor to David Carr, bruised his ribs during Fresno State's season-opening loss at Wisconsin. Grady practiced with the Bulldogs all week, but the team's medical staff held him out of the game.

Berrian, who caught 85 passes for 1,364 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, sprained his knee at Wisconsin. Though the injury wasn't serious, he didn't practice during the week, and he might not be ready for next week's game at Oregon.

Freshman Paul Pinegar, who has never thrown a pass for the Bulldogs, got the start in place of Grady.
