guess this is why jersey is -400

guess this is why jersey is -400

would never play that line but :

New Jersey will try to avenge a 4-3 loss to these
Thrashers in Atlanta on January 24 -- Atlanta's lone win in 10 all-time meetings with the Devils. The defending Eastern Conference champs have outscored Atlanta 43-15 in going 8-1-1 in the 10 matchups, and they are a perfect 5-0 all-time when hosting the Thrashers

The Thrashers currently own the worst record
in the Eastern Conference, and they are winless (0-5-0-1) on the road this season against Atlantic Division foes, overall 1-9-1-1 against the Atlantic. Overall, Atlanta is 12-21-5-4 within
the East, while New Jersey is 16-15-5-3 in conference play

The season's series is tied 1-1-0, with Atlanta outscoring New Jersey 6-5, despite being outshot 70-48

listened to fraser??s post game comments after Edmonton and he was reluctant to name his goalie for jersey, saying nurminen had played very well and he??d wait and see who would start since Atlanta has the rangers at home on Friday?Kwill keep my eyes open for that one--

Backup goalie J.F. Damphousse was assigned to Albany (AHL) yesterday. Scott Clemmensen was recalled to serve as Martin Brodeur's backup until John Vanbiesbrouck is ready to play....

7th among defensemen in scoring, Brian Rafalski, returns to NJ??s lineup tonight?X
NJ is 1 pt back of 8th place in the east behind the rangers and montreal

Including Tuesday's decision, 45 of the Devils' 54 games have been decided by two-goals-or-less. The club is 10-12 in one-goal games, 7-9 in two-goal decisions, and there have been seven ties.
The Devils have outshot their opponents in 40 of their 54 games to date. The club is now 14-18-6-2 when outshooting their opponents, and 8-3-1-1 when being outshot. New Jersey was outshot in just 19 games all of last season, going 13-3-3 in those games.

thanks SJ,

from TSN..
Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Dmitry Yushkevich has a blood clot in his knee and will be out of action indefinitely.

The problem was discovered by team doctors following Toronto's win over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.

Yushkevich is receiving treatment for the blood clot, but his participation in the Winter Olympics is now doubtful.

Anyone find any info one way or another on Cujo tonight? Someone mentioned earlier in the week that they read he might sit in one of these road games before the Olympics.

nothing yet, SJ, will look some more...

from edm journal..
Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish mixed things up at practice Wednesday. Marty Reasoner is in, playing on the No. 2 line with Ryan Smyth and Dan Cleary. Reasoner is likely on the trading block, but they're hoping he rises to the challenge of playing against his old club. "I'm not expecting miracles from Marty, but he's been given chances before and time's running out,'' said MacTavish.

Jochen Hecht, who has overall been a disappointment, moves to left wing on the top line with Mike Comrie and Anson Carter. Although Carter is garnering points (46), he isn't carrying the puck anywhere near as well or as often as he did before the Olympic team selection in mid-December. Domenic Pittis will centre the fourth line with Georges Laraque, who had a bad game in Atlanta, and Josh Green. The only trio staying intact is the Todd Marchant-Mike Grier-Ethan Moreau line.

Staios put on IR also, recalled Sven Butenschon(sweet name) 6' 4'' 215 d-man(40 career NHL games played)
