Vegas Experts Tip of the day

Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals, Thursday, August 11, 2005 8:10 P.M. EST EST

Millwood in his best form of the year with a 2.08 ERA over his last three. Carrasco was roughed up in his most recent outings but two were on the road and here at home his ERA is a respectable 4.40. CLEVELAND is 35-24 UNDER with a hot bullpen whose WHIP is under 1.250 the last 15 games this season. MILLWOOD is 20-8 UNDER as a favorite of -110 or higher over the last 2 seasons. KANSAS CITY is 48-33 UNDER after a loss by 4 runs or more over the last 2 seasons.

Play on: Under

LA Dodgers -110 over Philly

Couple different factors make this a play for me. One is the sweep of a home team factor. Love to play the home team to salvage a game to avoid the sweep. Next you have Philly hitters not faring too well against lefties the last 10 days (.210)

O. Perez in three of the last four games have given up 0 runs to the Phils.

I ilke the value and I like our edge.

Players Advantage FREE NFL WINNER for Thursday!
Green Bay Packers (+) vs San Diego @ 8:00 ET
This line opened up with the Packers as a 2.5 point favorite. It has moved almost a full TD as the line is now the Chargers laying a field goal. We're going to fade the line move here. This is still preseason and so certain injuries that have effected this line are really not that critical to a preseason game. We look for a solid game from Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. We certainly don't expect San Diego's head man Schottenheimer to be as concerned with winning this game as he may have in years past. That's because the Chargers are off of such a solid campaign from last season and they return much the same team as last year. Green Bay is more of a work in progress right now and that tends to be a plus in preseason. Those types of teams are generally more focused on having success in Preseason. Ignore some of the history that will be pointing to San Diego and go with the more logical choice, based on current info NOT history. Play Green Bay plus the points as your free play for Thursday night. Best of luck.

Al McMordie's Big Al's Sportsline/Aug. 11
At 3:35pm our complimentary selection is on the Los Angeles Angels at the Oakland Athletics 'over' the total. Just when the Angels need the steady Paul Byrd down the stretch, he seems to be showing signs of wearing down. Due to various injuries, Byrd has only pitched one complete season since 1999, which was in 2002 when he got 34 starts for Kansas City. He then missed the entire 2003 season and only had 18 starts last year for Atlanta. So one has to wonder whether his recent inconsistency is a sign that he's developed more health problems. He is being asked to pitch every five days now, in light of injuries to Kelvim Escobar and (more recently) Jarrod Washburn. In his last three starts, Byrd has an ERA of 6.75 and a WHIP of 1.75 in only sixteen innings. Joe Blanton has been one of the big surprises for the A's this season, and one of the reason they're right in the thick of it now for the division title. Blanton received plenty of run support in his last as the A's beat up on KC, 16 - 1. In the start before that, all he did is beat the Cy Young champ Johan Santana. I expect the Angels to hit Blanton a bit tonight, and for this game to sail 'over' the total. Good luck as always...

Tom Freese Blue Line Club MLB FREE PICK for Thurs. 8/11/05
TOM FREESE BLUE LINE CLUB- Thursday, August 11
FREE PICK
Cleveland at Kansas City (8:10pm)
Pitching mismatch here as the Indians Kevin Millwood is has a better than 4 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio in his last 3 starts while the Royals DJ Carrasco has more walks than strikeouts in his last 3 starts. The Indians are 23-8 away at night vs. righties this year. PLAY ON CLEVELAND - (Millwood vs. Carrasco)

NY Mets @ San Diego 3:35 PM EST
Play On: 1* San Diego -110 (Glavine/Williams) Listed

NY Mets are 2-9 this year as a road underdog of +100 to +125. San Diego is 6-1 in August this year. Glavine is 2-6 with a 5.37 ERA on the road this year. San Diego is 5-2 at home vs NY Mets last 3 years. Williams is 4-2 vs NY Mets since 1997 while his team in those starts is 8-3 during that time. We'll recommend a small play on the San Diego Padres. Thanks and good luck, Rocky

Will Cover's MLB "COMP PLAY" for 8-11.

ROCKIES vs the Pirates 3:05pm EST

Pirates RHP Josh Fogg comes into this contest in a "serious FOG" as he has won just once in his last 12 starts for the Bucs. Not only that, he has dropped 15 of his 22 starts this year! The Rockies counter with LHP Francis who is 10-2 lifetime at Coors Field and is 7-2 his last 13 afternoon starts. Colorado is a fine 7-3 L10 games. PLAY ON THE ROCKIES!
