1. Channel Zero

Stampeders' defensive co-ordinator Chris Jones likes to bring pressure up front using "zero" coverage in the secondary: man-to-man across the board with no safety help. It's a high-risk, high-reward approach that will give the Ticats big-play opportunities -- if the offensive line, which struggled last week in Winnipeg, can give quarterback Kevin Glenn enough time to find a receiver

2. The impact of Mo Mann

The wide receiver acquired in an off-season trade with Edmonton makes his Ticat debut this week after missing week one with an ankle injury. Lined up alongside Arland Bruce, Mann should get plenty of playmaking opportunities -- or force teams to pick their poison.

3. Sandro's revenge

Though he says it's just another game, critical comments from ex-teammate Nik Lewis this week will likely provide the former Stampeder kicker with additional motivation to put the, ahem, boots to Calgary in his first home game as a Ticat.

KEY MATCHUP

Ticat running back DeAndra' Cobb vs. Stamps running back Joffrey Reynolds

The Hamilton Spectator
(Jul 10, 2010)

Both players are key components to their respective offences because a solid ground game opens so much more in terms of passing the football. Cobb had 136 all-purpose yards in the win against Calgary last season and another 129 in the loss. Look for the second-year player to be used as a pass catcher out of the backfield -- a relief valve for quarterback Kevin Glenn when Calgary brings pressure.
