Tiger Woods heavy favorite at WGC

Will Tiger bring the fire?
Fresh off a convincing victory in the Ryder Cup, Europe?s top golfers will be looking to knock off Tiger Woods yet again in this week?s WGC American Express Championship at The Grove in Hertfordshire,England. However, Woods is a very heavy favorite to win.
And that?s because he?s won this tournament before ? four times in fact. During the inaugural event in 1999, Woods knocked off Miguel Angel Jimenez on the first sudden-death playoff hole to score the victory and earn $1 million. Woods won again in 2002 (by one shot over Retief Goosen), in 2003 (by two shots over Vijay Singh, Stuart Appleby, and Tim Herron), and in 2005 too (on the second playoff hole over John Daly).
The only other golfers to have won this event since it began are Mike Weir and Ernie Els. Weir defeated Lee Westwood by two shots in 2000, and Els picked up a one-shot victory over Thomas Bjorn in 2004. The American Express Championship was cancelled in 2001; the tourney had been scheduled to begin the week of September 11.
There are four World Golf Championship (WGC) events on the schedule, and they?re sanctioned by the International Federation of PGA Tours. To be eligible for the WGC American Express Championship, a golfer had to be in the Top 50 of the official World Golf Ranking, or be the leader of a member tour?s official money list (or order of merit).
Current member tours include the PGA Tour, the Asian Tour, the European Tour, the Japan Golf Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the Southern Africa Tour (the Canadian Tour is currently only an associate member of the federation). That means the American Express Championship has a truly international field. American Woods is pegged as the +240 tournament favorite, while Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia are the co-favorites to be the top European at +400. Ernie Els is the +400 favorite to be the top non-American, non-European golfer this weekend, with Vijay Singh listed next at +500.
Here are some of the top odds to win the tourney this year, and some other prop bets:
