Tim Wakefield (RIP)

July 26, 1997 I was at Fenway for the first time. We sat behind the bullpens. Great game, the Sox won on a 3-run HR by Mo Vaughn in the bottom of the 9th. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1997-jul-27-sp-16766-story.html
Anyway, at one point I look down and see Tim Wakefield walking around the pen. No idea why this is what came to mind, but I yelled down "Hey Tim, show us how you grip that knuckler." He then disappeared under the bullpen roof, and I figured he was just blowing off this idiot in the bleachers. Then this happened. And I became a Tim Wakefield fan for life. Sorry, this is so old that I took a pic of the photograph.

my kids and i met him in the pirate dugout in the 90 s he couldn t have been nicer he was a great guy
