It?s just getting started. I?d use only what you can lose entirely and start at Coinbase.com. A lot of people don?t like it for a number of reasons, but to me it?s the most user friendly place to acquire bitcoin and ethereum for dollars

Some people leave their coins on the exchange. I have a Trezor and just bought a Ledger Nano that should be here any day for my XRP. Tons of videos on youtube. Spend some time watching them and how to move money around. Practice with small amounts. When I send big money around, I also send a small amount first to make sure I am not fucking things up.

I joined Coinbase as well but it will only let me purchase BTC, ETH and LTC. It appears to me that I can't purchase XRP on there. When I researched it, it said to purchase XRP on Bitstamp.

You should buy BTC or ETH and move it to an exchange where you can buy some of the alt coins.

Can you explain that process in a little more specific detail? Specifically, what I do after I buy BTC at Coinbase and want to purchase XRP for example.

Thanks man!

Sign up for an account at https://bittrex.com which is an exchange but there are plenty out there. You transfer your BTC or ETH from Coinbase to Bittrex. Then there are hundreds of coins on there that you can buy but you need either BTC or ETH to buy one of them. There will be a market for example XRP/BTC and XRP/ETH. So you need BTC or ETH to buy XRP. Then you have XRP and you can keep it on the exchange or buy a cold storage wallet and keep it offline. There is so much more but that is a quick review.
