To hedge, or not to hedge...

I need some advice. I placed an 8-team 7-point teaser (SD+14, Jax +7, Pit +3.5, Bucs -0.5, NO + 4, Sea +13, Oak +2, Colts +12). Raiders & Seahawks pushed downgrading it to a 6-team teaser. I am waiting on the Colts-Dolphins game tonight. So here is the question:

I have Colts +12, is it wise to hedge this bet with a 2-team 7-point teaser: Dolphins -12, Over 38, or hope that Miami cannot cover a 12 point spread?

You take MIAMI -5 for half your wager.

You now have a 7 point middle in a no-lose proposition.

In layman's terms, this is called having Vegas "by the nuts".

I think that should read, you take Miami -5 for half of your expected take on the Teaser. This gives you a 7 point middle and guarantees that you win at least half of the expected take on the teaser. On the other hand, if Miami doesn't cover the -5 this play costs you half of your return. On the other, other hand, if this is a pretty big payout, half a dish is a lot better than none, especially when you have a good shot at winning both ways.

Skinar is right.

Take MIAMI-5 for half your expected take on the teaser.

I stand corrected.

Thanks, Tom. I spoke to soon.
