That is the question
Over the last 4 years I've made a lot money betting the fight game. Other than live betting (which has been very profitable), this year has been a struggle to consistently bring in the cash. So I started scalping the big line moves, sometimes just one a week, sometimes up to 4 scalps a week. And I've been cashing between $50 and $100 a week without risking a damn thing. Sounds like small change but 100 a week brings in an extra 5,000 a year...risk free.
Anyway
The purpose of this post is to get some feedback on how I should handle this scalping situation in terms of posting plays here at mj's. Obviously I don't post a play if my intention is to scalp it later, I only post plays that I recommend. Here's the problem...
I try to get the opener of every fight, even if its 2 months away I want the original number. So I get my money down and come here to post the play in my futures so you can get close to the same line. Unfortunately there aren't many who will tie up money that far down the road, so instead of getting +230 (for example) they get +170 or less. If the line moves so much that the free money is too good to pass up...the smart thing to do is scalp. Unfortunately those who got on the play late will not be able to scalp and might lose money on the buyout. Either way they'll be pissed about me backing out of a play that they are on, esp if it ends up losing and I still make money on the scalp.
SO...
I could stop posting futures, but that will only hurt my loyal followers who get the same lines I do by playing early. And there's no way I'm posting a play at +170 when I got it at +230 last month.
I'm here to help and I don't like pulling plays that I recommend, but sometimes a line moves enough to set up decent cash without risking anything. Unless you're completely sure of your wager, the smart thing to do is scalp.
Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?
Other than KOD, does anyone else have a problem with me scalping a posted play?
Am I making a big deal out of nothing?
