One of the most overrated coaches ever. Big difference between classy and being a good coach. How many times was his team favored in the playoffs, and how many of those games did they lose?

Below .500 record even with a superbowl win and the best qb in the game. Any coach could lead the Colts to the playoffs..

He was 7 - 6 with the colts, which is also lame since he went 4 - 0 one year.
Duny is 9 - 10 in the playoffs. Regular season means nothing, who cares what his record was then. The guy choked every playoff season except 1. When he leaves Tampa the next coach comes in and wins a title. So your telling me the next coach who comes into Indy wont take that same team to the playoffs?

I COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE NEXT COACH DOES -9-10 - ARE YOU SAYING THAT IS BAD- EVERY COACH THAT HAS WON A SB HAS TO GO 3-0 OR 4-0 TO WIN IT - WHAT I AM SAYING IS DUNGY was a classy GREAT COACH - BUT WHAT DO I KNOW -

Dungy finishes his career as the Colts? franchise leader in victories, going 85-27 in the regular season and 7-6 in the playoffs.

He?s the only coach in NFL history to produce six straight 12-win seasons and 10 consecutive playoff appearances.

What the novice football fan fails to appreciate is how damn hard it is to win a NFL game.

Any week, outside of the Lions Franchise, your opponnet is poised to kick your ass in the most brutal sport one can phathom.

It so easy to say Manning shouldn't lose playoff games.

But then again the novice fan always comes up with the ridiculous and absurd.

It so easy for these coach's to win w/the better QB and teams that the betting dog over the last 3 plus seasons of playoffs has reduced the chalking betting players to getting a job at McDonalds to help payoff their gambling debts.

Marv Levy stunk up the joint too I guess..

From 1988 through 1997, the Bills were first in the AFC in winning percentage and second only to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. Levy, the winningest coach in Bills? history, recorded a 112?70 regular season record and was 11?8 in the playoffs during his eleven seasons with the Bills. He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 1988 and AFC Coach of the Year in 1988, 1993, and 1995
PLEASE................

lets throw in Don Shula w/the other bad coachs' as well.

Shula was unable to win in the post-season, failing in 12 trips to the playoffs ? including two more Super Bowl appearances ? before retiring after the 1995 season.

Fans..always opinionated but seldom backed up w/reason and facts..

and usually w/an axe to grind

Hes coached in an average division with the best qb of my generation. Sorry but I am not impressed. Congrats on your regular season success.

was not the first and will not be the last time that a coach leaves a place better than when he got there.
What Tony did at Tampa Bay is a measuring stick for turning franchises around.

ask Barry how he like getting the Cowboy job from Jimmy.

Every head coach worth his salt likes nothing better than leaving the shelves full for the incoming coach.

In a league where parity is the main goal among the governing bodies and thus they structure the salary cap, waiver wirer and franchise tag to make sure that nearly every team can compete with the others to guarentee fan involvement and jerseys sales. For head coachs' to rise above the rest and produce season after season of post season appearances is nothing short of superb work.

I'm through...

I think he was overrated, okay coach not great. Very classy soft spoken guy, whoever has Peyton Manning as qb would have done what he did. Wish him the best:sadwave:

Old School you seem like an Indy fan, thus you dont think logical on issues regarding your team. I will promise you the next coach for the Colts will take the team to the playoffs and if he can win one game then he will do better than what the amazing dungy did in 4 out of 5 years.

Sorry but Tony is known for underachieving in the playoffs. Go look at the scores of some of the games, they weren't even competitive in a few of them.

Under a mask.
Being a coach when NE had mostly the upper hand. What im trying to say is he was a great coach and a great organization.

They had some great battles and NE mostly came out on top except for when they won it all.
Dont let that take away what he accomplished.
Im not trying to be funny,im stateing why I think I see some negative posts here.

He will sorely be missed, and in my mind the NE/Indy rivalry wont be the same.
