It was originally Tonya vs. Amy Fisher. I don't know what happened to that. I already bet on Tonya at 10/11 for that bout, but now it has dropped to 77/100 at SIA with her new opponent.
If there is any shred of normalcy to this made for TV event (AND A BIGGER IF MAY HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN), then the athletic, white trash, skating queen should easily handle that spindly little nose job from the south. But, if they really have judges who try to score this 3 round bout, I don't see how paula jones can win.
Here's a quote: "This is legitimate. We'll have a real referee, a real doctor, real announcers. To all the world, this will be a real boxing match," says Mike Darnell, Fox's alternative-programming chief.
I couldn't find out who the judges are. Maybe the referee will score the fight.
Expect to see them come at each other and just start throwing windmills (as amateurs do, especially people who don't know anything about boxing). Tonya's been hit before by a man, I think, so I don't expect her to get flustered when the gloves start landing. Look for PJ just to start covering up, which looks particularly terrible to untrained judges. SO, trained or untrained judges, I like tonya.
Academies:
Best Director: Ron Howard. Hollywood loves awarding people whose films make a lot of money. I have major problems with all his movies, but I think this is the best one he's ever made, and it is good. He's also got a couple of little "directing tricks" in it so that voters can really think he had a creative spark or two.
Best supporting actress: Jennifer Connelly. First of all, this was the only nominated actress that anyone saw (two from "gosford parks", one from "in the bedroom" and one from "iris"). Second of all, she was really excellent. I also think the academy likes woman in supporting roles in which they actually playing a "supporting role", that is, tending after a crazy/drunk/sad/etc. MAN. See Marcia Gay Harden last year, maybe Juliette Binoche from English Patient. Gosford Park fans shoud split those votes up. Tomei might get a small bet for the "read the ballot wrong factor" (yes, I know it was an urban myth).
LOTR had the most noms this year, but I think ABM takes the biggies. ABM is a good movie, with an interesting, understated, portrayal of schizophrenia. Like all RH films, it drags considerably at times, but it ends a little darker than some of his others, which was nice.
