Donald Trump , the popular and charismatic star of "The Apprentice" and
owner of the Miss Universe Organization, announced yesterday that he will not allow the participation of Miss Mexico, Priscila Perales , in the 2006 Miss Universe pageant to be held in Fargo, North Dakota from July 2 - 21. Trump was terribly upset by the massive pro-illegal immigration rally that took place in Los Angeles nearly a month ago. The protesters consisted largely of illegal Mexican aliens who demanded that the Bush administration implement a guest-worker program that would allow them to do the menial jobs that most native-born Americans do not want.
But what bothered Trump the most was the strong anti-American sentiments expressed by the supporters of the Reconquista movement which aims to reconquer the lands that "used to belong" to Mexico (such as California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and parts of Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma). Satirical Beauty called the Trump headquarters in New York City to do a phone interview with the magnate, but he was not available. Instead, his beautiful wife Melania Trump answered the phone and said, "My husband was extremely crushed by the images of the American flag flying upside down under the Mexican flag - and this was in Los Angeles, on American soil! How could this be! He was enraged to see even American highschool students of Mexican descent who were chanting Viva M?xico and being totally unpatriotic towards the U.S. " See pictures from the protest here.
Melania also said that her husband fears that Perales - once she has tasted the sweetness of American life - may overextend her stay and remain illegal. Satirical Beauty contacted Lupita Jones , Miss Universe 1991 from Mexico and the national director of Nuestra Belleza M?xico pageant, and asked her opinion about Trump's decision to exclude Perales from the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Jones commented, "I understand Mr. Trump's concerns, but they are totally based on fear and irrationality. It's too bad that Priscila is being punished for the rowdy behavior of my fellow Mexicans. She's a sweet girl, and I really believe that she has what it takes to be the next Miss Universe from Mexico."
Trump supporters like Tammy Faye Barker , the reigning Miss Anglo Christian America from Fargo, argue that Trump has every right to do whatever he wants as the owner of Miss Universe, and that includes Perales. Barker commented in her infectious Scandinavian twang, "I bet ya that Miss Mexico can't even speak a word of English! How does she expect to get along with the English-speaking candidates?" Jones, who was part of the jury that selected Barker last October, was shocked by Barker's "racist" comments.
Pageant analyst Kiki Van Buren predicts that the exclusion of Perales might inspire illegal Mexican aliens and their supporters to march en masse to Fargo, establish permanent residency there, and eventually to overtake the large Scandinavian community.
