10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. not vigorous or outraged...
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. nope, don't feel insulted at all..
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. if Triune means Trinity, then guilty of this one.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees! Don't even know how these can be compared :shrug:
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. Do Greeks still believe that?? Didn't think so...
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. A lot more proof that you make it seem like, lol!
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving." no way... I would never be that idiotic to think that only my 'sect' is going to heaven. Christians that do are divisive and idiotic, and not committed to their calling as a Christian.
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. not me; I think speaking in tongues is not a gift anybody has now (nor prophecy). I think that was just around in the New Testament church (and before of course) to help spread the Word. Not necessary now. Somebody has to be able to interpret the speaking, or it's bs imho.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. definitely not. God's answers to prayers are yes, no, and wait. I believe prayers are answered at a 100% clip; it just might not be the answer u want.

GMROz, funny story... I had a friend who went with a girlfriend to her church which was a Church of God of Prophecy or some other type of Holiness church. They believe in speaking in tongues, and that is practiced often in the service. He was rather overwhelmed with the whole church service as his background in church was much more subdued, so he decided to cut out for a bit and visit the restroom. On the way out, he was slinking out the crowded, narrow pew when he hit his knee HARD as he was exiting. He bent down, grabbed his leg, and said loudly in pain and disgust, "OH MY KNEE!!" The congregation around him raised their hands and chanted "OMYNEE", "OMYNEE" as they thought he had been convicted and was speaking in tongues. True story...

Are all of the other observing religions either wrong, fake, or non-existent, if they do not believe and worship in the true God as described in the Bible?
This is probably the most difficult thing for me to get a grasp on when I take a look at organized Christianity. That, and Jimmy Swaggart...but I can hold off on that one...

I should know this but don't--is there a diff between Christian and Fundamentalist Christian.

Fundamentalists believe the Bible is the be all, end all. It is perfect. They believe the earth is 4,000 years old, Adam and Eve were the first two humans, etc. In other words, they are the ones that read the Bible, and take it literally.

They most certainly are not separate. Faith Based Initiatives, laws about buying alcohol on Sundays, laws about what two adults can do in their bedroom, and other sin laws (stem cells, etc.). Our President had a weekly meeting with Ted Haggard!!! Come on, Weasel. You know better.
I never once said anything about "In God We Trust" being on our money and I don't have a problem with religion unless it creeps into the affairs of the State, which it continues to do.
I am well aware that Buddy (among others) cringes when I go on my tangents about religion. I'm passionate about the subject, and studying religion and philosophy is a hobby I developed a couple years ago (after having studied religion for years in HS and undergrad). Forgive me for wanting to spread what I have learned. It's a one-way street in our society: Spread the "good word" and you are a great person; challenge the Church or its beliefs and you are scum.
You're not trying to start a fight, and neither am I. This is a forum, and I enjoy these "debates", so don't worry about offending me.
And if someone feels better bellied up to the bar are they condemed even though they do not have a drinking problem?
