carpenter vs. mussina

i see and hear all kinds of trends developing here, but i am disregarding them and concentrating on the game at hand and the pitcher against pitcher comparison.

carpenter's era is almost the same as mussina, but that is neither nor there. he has pitched some gems and will go an average of 7 innings. he recovered from a shellacking 3 starts ago by pitching 13 innings in his last 2, total of 7 hits, 3 bbs and 1 earned run. impressive indeed.

mussina has been one of the premier pitchers in baseball and has had his ups and downs this season. if we take away his next to last start, he shows an impressive 21 innings pitched with only 2 earned runs allowed.

so what's the conclusion from all this? mussina and the yankees should be favored here, as they show an edge over the visitors, but how much of an edge? not much, according to my figures, something like one half of a run, which is much too tight for the kind of odds we are seeing here.

+200 is one heck of a bargain and the way to go. there is also a strong whiff of an under.

now the thing is, I've won with the JAYZ the last two games....

dare I take them for a third in a row against a team like the yankees...?

i dunno...personally, i think i'll lay off the Jayz, they've given me the best two days of their season.

does your fiancee know how ungrateful you are?

tv, i realize that everyone and their mother is expecting the yankees to turn it around tomorrow. maybe that explains the outrageous odds. i will stick to my pitching match-ups and jump on good value whenever i see it. let chips fall where they may.

actually, if you really think about it, the yankees must be at a psychological low and should they lose this one as well, i believe steinbrenner and torre will be in the limelight again. toronto is loose and probably doesn't give a hoot.

gl tomorrow.

Just an opinion. Jays are hot and yankees are slumping. Just the same I look for a strong effort from Mussina and the rest of the Yanks to avoid the sweep. After all this team has alot of pride and a very successful recent past to back it up. They will not be swept......................

I, like TV, have won twice in a row with BJ's. Were yesterdays POD for me. I agree they are a very live dog here, but you know how the saying goes - fool me once....well maybe that does not really apply here, but I'm not pushing my luck, especially against the Yanks, slumping or not. Under looks like a more solid play in what should be a close fought battle......
