When will the oddsmakers start posting totals of "7" for Islanders' games?
Does anybody have a database when the last posted total for ANY NHL game was 7?
I've been wagering on NHL totals for 23 years, but I can't recall when the last total of 7 was posted. I remember a game in '96 or '97 when the total was 7.5. (I did take some time off, so I'm sure I've missed a lot of games with 7's or more)
The lowest I've seen was a total of "4" shaded to the over. This was back when their was only a regular 5-on-5 five-minute overtime, with no shootout. (I miss the days of ties, but that's another discussion) I'm pretty sure the total of just 4 was when Marty and the Devils were doing their thing in the early 2000s.
For you "old-timers"...what were totals like back when the Oilers were flying back in the 1980s? Did locals (or Vegas) have hockey totals back then? I'm sure they did.
Also, what were pucklines in the newspaper like back then. I was just a kid, but I thought a few times I saw Edmonton favored by 4- 4.5 goals. (The days before moneylines with locals)
