When will the oddsmakers start posting totals of "7" for Islanders' games?
Does anybody have a database when the last posted total for ANY NHL game was 7?
I've been wagering on NHL totals for 23 years, but I can't recall when the last total of 7 was posted. I remember a game in '96 or '97 when the total was 7.5. (I did take some time off, so I'm sure I've missed a lot of games with 7's or more)
The lowest I've seen was a total of "4" shaded to the over. This was back when their was only a regular 5-on-5 five-minute overtime, with no shootout. (I miss the days of ties, but that's another discussion) I'm pretty sure the total of just 4 was when Marty and the Devils were doing their thing in the early 2000s.
For you "old-timers"...what were totals like back when the Oilers were flying back in the 1980s? Did locals (or Vegas) have hockey totals back then? I'm sure they did.
Also, what were pucklines in the newspaper like back then. I was just a kid, but I thought a few times I saw Edmonton favored by 4- 4.5 goals. (The days before moneylines with locals)

I remember being at the Stardust and seeing 7.5 and even some 8's on some games in the 80's. The Oilers did have some games where the Over/Under was set at 8, and it would almost always go over.

There was one game this year where a couple UK Sportsbooks had Under 7.0 at 1.70 odds (-140) but I can't remember what game that was.

As far as any Nevada Sportsbooks, I don't think there has been a 7 on any NHL game this season.

Thanks for info Kick.

I live in the NYC metro area, so I get to see the NYI, NYR, and NJD on t.v. every game. Even the Devils have been putting the puck into the back of the net this season; for the first time in ages!
Scoring must be up throughout the NHL. I'm thinking it's a result of more penalties being called.
I think Vegas (and offshore) haven't fully adjusted yet. True, we are not seeing anymore 5's, but if the Isles keep scoring (and allowing) goals like they have been, I think 7's will be posted on some of their games, depending on the opponent.
Tonight you can get +money on the over 6.5. I'm not predicting it will go over, I just love the value here. 4-3 type game. (gotta love 3-3 after regulation, you know you have winner!)

True, and I used to be a big under bettor back in the day.
It felt like empty net goals went against me 80% of the time!
