Verplank -111 over Perry SIA
Z Johnson -110 over Hamilton @SB

Some notes on Perry--Has seemed to found adaqaut apparently--bought aHarley and been riding it last month along with racing his cars here locally--contibutes 5% of all winnings to his church who several membersbacked him in early stages of tour but gives 0 to alma matre Western who gave him 0 toward scloarship.

Outright plays (1.5pts):

David Toms to win 25/1 e.w. @ GolfingGods
Not backing Vijay at less than 3/1, so hoping for at least a place finish from one of these two better-priced players. Toms has shown good form recently with finishes of 4th and 6th in his last two events and he does to come to a course on which he has form, finishing 3rd and 11th in his last two visits. With his major title also being won in this State, there is plenty of reason to expect Toms to be a challenger this week and he represents value at 20/1 and above.

Chris DiMarco to win 40/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes and GolfingGods
Not as convincing a case for DiMarco, but the odds are a worthy compensation. He has been playing well and contending most weeks that he has played in the last three months and is certainly capable of a top-4 finish. He did finish 7th two years ago around this course and, like Toms, he is a winner in this State (2001 Buick Challenge) so he really shouldn't be 40/1 in a 31-man field.

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Kenny Perry to beat Stuart Appleby -114 @ Expekt
Fresher than most players because of his light schedule and still very rarely out of the top-20 when he does play, Perry is a far better player than Appleby most of the time and should be at the moment as Appleby comes into this event with finishes of 68th and mc in his last two starts.
(also available at Sportingbet, Sporting Odds and Five Dimes)

Kenny Perry to beat Chad Campbell -125 @ Centrebet
Campbell is another player out of form and has been that way for five months. He has finished ahead of Perry in only two of their common events in the last four months and looks ready for the season to draw to a close. Can't even see Campbell finishing in the top-half of this leaderboard.

Kenny Perry to beat Mike Weir -115 @ Five Dimes
Weir's form is also rather indifferent. In his last five strokeplay events (since the PGA Championship), he has one runners-up finish, two missed cuts and the other two were also finishes below 40th position. He will need to play a lot better if he is to compete with Perry this week.
(also available at William Hill and Easybets)

Tiger Woods to beat Sergio Garcia -130 @ Olympic [3pts]
Tiger may not be the player that he was, but he is still a far better player than Garcia. He has not won, but he has finished outside the top-10 only twice in the last six months and while Garcia can point to four consecutive top-4 finishes, they have all been in Europe and that bears little relevance for this week. Indeed, there could easily be a reaction to his playoff loss at Valderrama last week. Tiger has finished ahead of Garcia in each of their last four common events on American soil and should be a stronger favourite to extend that run to five.
(also available at Five Dimes and Pinnacle)

Zach Johnson to beat Todd Hamilton -110 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Whereas Johnson has a great deal of experience of winning in Georgia ? he has won four times on the Hooters Tour, twice on the Nationwide Tour and once on the PGA Tour in this State ? Hamilton has played in this State only four times in ten years and struggled each time. He has played only once since September and that was a 1st round exit in the HSBC World Matchplay, so he really does not look like a strong opponent to Johnson this week. He has only finished ahead of him in five of nineteen occasions on the PGA Tour this year; this week it should be five from twenty.

Verplank over Campbell -110 @WTTS

Unless Verplank under weather I like this.Rough very punative here and Verplank ranks 2nd in fairways hit--and much better before cut scor ave 69.72/71.17

Note Golfinggods has Neteller up and running and takes U.S. citizen
Had a few gliches in setting up account --but Jason was nice enough to phone (which surprised hell out of me) and walk it through.Must think I'm a fish :)
Sure do like what I see from them but frankly think they are biting off a bunch trying to set up shop solely on golf punting--figure that to be one of toughest venues--but hope they survive--I like their attitude so far.

3rd rd
I like Goose at +137 today @ Pinnacle over Tiger. Missing fairways will catch up to Tiger in this rough (ranks last in 1st 2 rounds) also 3rd rd has been Tigers worst this year and Gooses's best, ranking 1st on tour. Will give it a shot

and in addition Goose ranks 1st in weekend closing with 138 ave Singh distant 2nd with 139.08 which further supports TU's play

Goosen looks favourite to me too, but odds look about right, so ...

Further outright play (1.5pts):

Zach Johnson to win 33/1 e.w. @ SkyBet, BetInternet, Victor Chandler and Ladbrokes
Johnson was challenging to be in the final group until a disastrous 7-4-4 finish yesterday. Normally such a loss of momentum would be reason enough to lay a player at this stage of the event and that thinking is certainly behind his current odds, but his record suggests otherwise. The last time he had such a late derailment in the 2nd round was in the 84 Lumber Classic six week ago when he finished 7-3-4. As this week, he fell back to 7th place, but he recorded just one more bogey in the rest of the tournament and finished in 3rd place. A repeat performance will yield a healthy profit and as this time he doesn?t have World no.1, Vijay Singh, at the head of the field, there is still the chance of victory from this position.

Cink +125 over Flesch @B&W (ties lose

Yep line is not misprint they also have Harrington @ +155 vsToms but will go with just the lone play.

If there has been a player I misjudged in this event it is Cink who came in hot playing on own turf but has yet to fire a lick---
However considering he beats Flesch in almost all stats holds over 2 stroke adv in final rd scoring this is one have to give a go and just shake your head if it loses----

Downside is already rooting against Flesch as need him to dump to get this little parlay to the house ;)

3u to win 6.3u

Els is underpriced here and I just think Goosen still has a shot. Who knows.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts

Toms 10th
DiMarco 24th
Johnson 13th

Not even a sniff of a place win!

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 3-2-0; +2.57pts

Perry/Appleby LOST by 10
Perry/Campbell WON (Campbell wd)
Perry/Weir LOST by 16
Woods/Garcia WON by 8
Johnson/Hamilton WON by 11

Rather fortunate to have a decent profit after backing Perry so heavily. He finished last of those players that did play the full 72-holes and thankfully one of his opponents did not.
