Ok, Not really a smack thread but observations. Who got screwed, who got hooked up, who's goin home early.
1. Oklahoma got bent over like Christy Canyon. I don't have RPI ratings in front of me, but since when does winning Conference USA mean more than winning the Big 12?
Quality wins for Cincy: Xavier,Miss St, Marquette, Charlotte, Wake Forest. They do not own a win over an elite team.
All Oklahoma did was beat Maryland and Kansas this year victories over 2 #1 seeds. In addition quality wins over:
Oklahoma State, Texas, Missouri, Connecticut (2 seed) Texas Tech,). I think the victories over a #2 seed and 2 #1's have more bearing than winning Conf USA.
2. UConn goes from being the #24 team in the country to being a 2 seed out east. I bet they would have been #3 in south had they lost to Pitt.
3. Gonzaga #6 out west??? Go from #6 team in the country to the 6th best team in the west??? However if you look at quality wins, they are only against: Pepperdine, Texas.
4. How in the world did Boston College get into this tourney???
I realize they went 8-8 in the Big East. But their only quality wins are vs. Miami, Boston U. ???? They went 3-4 down the stretch vs. some shoddy teams. Syracuse really got bent over in the conference, as did Georgetwon if you look at conf record and quality wins (esp in Syracuse case although they faded badly down the stretch as well).
Lots more to come
