Outright plays (2 units):

Denis Durnian to win 16/1 e.w. @ BetInternet and Stan James
Mason, Darcy and Longmuir are worthy favourites for this event, but Durnian is certainly one of the better 'second division' players. He has finished 2nd on Seniors Tour Order of Merit in each of the last two years and although he is winless this season, he still lies 6th with five top-10 finishes in his last seven starts. He does have course experience which is important as it is the Edinburgh course being used at Wentworth and not the West course which is used for the Volvo PGA Championship on the European Tour. Last year he finished 5th and he should be disappointed not to match that.

Bob Cameron to win 33/1 e.w. @ Bet365, BetInternet and Stan James
Cameron lies just behind Durnian in 8th place on the Seniors Tour Order of Merit in his rookie year having secured three top-3 finishes in four starts just before the Senior British Open. He finished 14th in that event and threatened to finish much higher until the final round. Not bad for a player who earned just ?185 in his sole year on the European Tour (1976) and he has shown that he can compete at this level.

David Good to win 100/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Events like these can throw up some weird prices, particularly if they are alongside a major championship. I see no reason why BetInternet should price up Jeff Van Wagenen at 10/1 and similarly why David Good should be 100/1 (though Bet365 offer 80/1). He started the season in good with two top-10 finishes in the West Indies and has returned to form lately with a top-20 finish in the Senior British Open and two top-10 finishes in his last two events - he was 2nd in Switzerland last week. He also has very good course experience having finished 7th, 14th and 3rd in the last three years, so 100/1 does look rather generous!

Final update: 0-3; -6.00 units

Durnian 27th
Cameron mc
Good 19th

No return from the event, though Good did remain in contention for the championship for two rounds. A final round 76 saw him fail to achieve a lucrative place finish.
