Treasure Island casino to dump pirates for sex
Associated Press

LAS VEGAS - Treasure Island's pirate show will be no more in Las Vegas later this summer.

Treasure Island hotel-casino is giving up on its tradmark show and skull marquee on the Las Vegas Strip. Instead, hotel owner MGM Mirage will remake the casino to feature more sex.

The facility had been drawing about four and a half million people a year to its outdoor Caribbean pirate show, which will end in early July.

A new, adult-oriented show that officials describe as "sexy and beautiful" will debut in October.

The hotel will keep its Circue du Soleil show

Sounds like a step in the right direction for me. I could never understand the family theme that Vegas was trying to sell. To me Vegas is suppose to be a little bit naughty.

Boilermaker....sounds like a great idea. I also like Gibbers idea of Pirate sex. Sounds like I'll have to schedule a trip for October to check out the debut.
:D

Oh, that T and A is sure coming....

Oh, that T and A is sure coming....

the beverage servers at Hard Rock pool have been saying for a while that they are planning a "European Style" pool and spa area that will be topless.

Other properties are talking about it. They just don't want to be the first one to try it.

Lotta talk last several months about which property will be the first to have a topless bar on the premises. But been just talk so far.

Rio fired all their aging beverage servers (cocktail waitresses), and hiring a younger bunch now. Gals have to have entertainment background on their resume. Rio calls them "bevertainers" (when I first read it, I thought it said "beavertainers"!). They have to do little acts occasionally when on duty. And management, in response to the question you know quickly asked, said that stripper experience doesn't count as entertainment on the resume.

County made lap dances at tittie bars illegal last year. Does not apply to city of Las Vegas proper. Mayor of LV asked if city thinking of similar law and he said no way, and he added "it's called Sin City for a reason". Mayor Goodman was re-elected last month by biggest electoral majority in the history of Las Vegas.

Sheesh- I liked the Pirate Show. 6 mos ago we took the wife's folks to Las Vegas. They were visiting form Thailand, (first time in the states.) We were on our way walkin the strip to catch an early Pirate Show @ Treasure Island. My wife & her mom were arm in arm and right behind me. As we approached I motioned for them to get ahead of me for a good 'spot' to see the whole show. Her Dad was nowhere to be seen. WTF- I thought. I told them to stay put and I'd find 'Dad" and be back for the show. I back-tracked about a block when I saw him in a crowd of young Hispanics. Holy Sh*t!, He had both hands full of those sex ad flyers they always pass out on the street.
The fog of Long Island Iced Teas lifted at once as I was trying to remember Thai & Spanish. They found a willing 'fish' and were circling. He didn't know what "CheChas Grande"-sp, (Big T*ts), meant- but Big Buxom Blondes willing to do anything sexual @ the drop of a hat was too much for him to resist. Took a few minutes to drag him away from the seamier side of the Mexican Mafia and dispose of the Free Info they were peddlin. Later that night, while downtown. he wanted to check out the 'Girls of Glitter Gulch.' Oh No you don't, Not Again.
Sigh- I hated to do it but I ratted him out to the wife knowing the Thai grapevine would prevent future occurrances. We did have a lot of fun -at least I did- the rest of the stay although if looks could kill I wouldn't be here.
P.S. I like the Paradise Club across from HardRock Casino the best. Also liked Olympic Gardens. Anyone know the best place?

I dont know where Fenway got that information, or if he edited his post instead of posting it directly from AP as it implies he did, but his post title is incorrect, the show will be revamped, not removed. Bigggg diferrence...

Treasure Island Casino Changing Image
Tue Apr 29, 8:53 AM ET

By The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS - For years, the Treasure Island hotel-casino ? with its pyrotechnic pirate show and menacing marquee ? has carried the reputation as a Disney-esque destination for families.

Never mind it happens to be smack in the middle of Sin City and the casino specializes in adult activities, where gambling and alcohol abound.

"We never catered to kids," Treasure Island President Scott Sibella said recently. "We are here to serve adults. But you just can't go out and tell people they can't bring their kids."

Now, as Las Vegas hotels have added swinging adult clubs and pushed the envelope with risque revues, the resort is trying to rid itself of its PG image.

Treasure Island is recasting itself as "TI" and adding some spice to the pirate extravaganza that attracts 4.5 million people annually.

The new $2 million version will include the "Sirens of TI," sexy females who will duel renegade pirates in what the casino calls a "sensual modern interpretation" of the old "Battle of Buccaneer Bay."

Sibella described the old show as "a little tired," and one in need of a swashbuckling facelift. It's been around since the 3,000-room Treasure Island opened in 1993.

Along with the revamped show, set to open in October, Treasure Island is removing its skull-and-bones marquee on the Strip and replacing it with a stylish, neon "TI" logo. But the words "Treasure Island" that adorn the top of the property's facade will stay.

"We are not changing the name," Sibella said. "It will always be Treasure Island. What we're trying to do is have a trendier and sexier name."

Sibella said the latest improvements coincide with the casino's internal evolution, where most traces of pirates are long gone.
