so,if a person who represents as being insured(but isn`t) gets hurt working on your property, you`re on the hook for the liability?.....

Certainly GW you are a little smarter than this...HELL YES!!!

"If a worker is injured working on your property and the contractor does not have insurance, you are the one who will have to pick up the bill for an injured worker's injuries and rehabilitation, if necessary. ".....

yeah.....you`re right,btb....the risk isn`t worth the potential buttf-cking i could incur.....

we might have a big snowstorm coming our way sunday/monday and i wanted this done...the guy i lined up backed out at the last minute and nobody else(except this guy) can get to it until next week....

not worth the risk...thanks for responding...

I do some odd jobs like that here...we have a hand shake deal...I hurt myself, I'm on my own.

I don't crawl up the Palm Tree's for Coconuts...I look up when I around and make sure they don't fall

I'll stand by that 'hand shake' , the way I was brought up. Doesn't happen like that these days.

Don't hire a drive-by

he`s a local guy...he knows my old next door neighbor(who was a reputable contractor)......

...there are power lines in the general vicinity of the work and if someone is really a f-ck up,they could conceivably manage to get themselves fried....that`s why i`m not getting out there myself with my long handled lopper....lol

I cut a phone line earlier this year....waited to call the phone company after the bush grew back...blamed it on (someone else)

Hatian or Jamacian Bell repairman arrived and started screaming, "Who cut this bush, cut my wire!!!"

I said some black guy comes by once a month and trims it. ''MF Man"...

I got lucky :00hour

I was thinking more along the lines of the guy falling the tree on the middle of your house and you are stuck holding the bag since he isnt insured. His safety never crossed my mind.

I don't think it Would b a big deal?? All these tree cutting companies consist of are skinny white guys who can climb a tree like a monkey holding a cigarette in their mouth and a running chainsaw in one hand. They don't use safety ropes or harnesses. U can pay triple I guess and get somebody with a cherry picker who is insured though. I wouldn't worry about it.

it`s male and female holly bushes(big ones) growing up into the power/cable/phone lines......no tree climbing involved.....

and they actually wouldn`t be cutting near the lines....the guy told me his man would get inside the tree and cut from underneath(how he does this without getting cut to ribbons by those dense clusters of holly thorns i have no idea)....

the guy that was supposed to do it gave me an estimate in october and told me november....iit got backed up until december.....then we agreed on wednesday...so when i called his office, his secretary told me she saw my ticket in the pile and would call me back to let me know when they were coming...

well, the owner is on vacation...he told me he would be....but that he would leave instructuions to cut the tree weds. because they were in the area....

then the girl calls back and says that he left instructions not to do the work...i have no idea why....

must have had a more lucarative job....but i`m sure that knowing me after doing work for me,that he won`t be doing any more work for me.....

soooooo...now i have a guy coming by in a few minutes that IS INSURED to give an estimate.....and he might be able to do it today or tomorrow....

to much info,i know.... ...it`s beginning to grate on my nerves,though...
