I haven't been so hot at predicting line moves early this season--pinnhead now has that
Oak over at +112...I'm a little stunned. Wash total now -104. whatevas

Not so hot on overs, either, as evidenced by the record.

--very strong wind projected to be blowing out to right field at Oakland Coliseum;
A's are really hitting well this season, coming in with a .756 OPS and that even
includes a .799 for their home games (half of the 18, by espn's day-olds)...they've
smoked 11 HR at home...7-day OPS for Oak is .837 and they've scored 6.5 per runs game
over that stretch, not to mention 11 HR during those 6 games (half at home, half at
Angels Stadium); rangers come in with a respectable .744 OPS but their OPS vs L
is currently .819 and their 7-day OPS is .818 while scoring 5.5 per game; Martinez
gets the call-up and while he has decent minor-league numbers, including generally
keeping the ball in the park, he did allow 2 dingers in his debut at Tropicana against
the Rays earlier this season; Milone is 1-4 vs the rangers as they've hit .321 against
him while smacking 6 dingers over 32 ip...Milone gives up a lot of fly balls and a lot
of home runs, including 14 in his 68 ip at home last season; ump scheduled is
Adrian Johnson

--lefty Skaggs had poor numbers with the D'Backs the previous 2 seasons and while
his only road start of '14 was really groovy (@Astros, who hold the worst offensive
stats all around this year) he was pounded in his only away start last year @Busch
and pounded by the mighty Padres at Petco in '12 (did have a decent start @Lad just
before the Padres pounding but the Dodgers were in a real funk at the time, even losing
the first two games of that particular series after being demolished by Rockies in the
previous series...BTW, Lad still won 2-1 behind Beckett)...his minor league numbers
aren't great either not to mention the 1.82 whip during this spring training over a
full 6 start tryout; speaking of lefties, Nats are sporting a .916 OPS vs L this
year going 3-1 vs including 2-0 at home (.700 OPS vs R so far); Nats Jordan had a
good first go vs Braves but they smoked him in the rematch before the Cards disposed
of him quickly in this park...not sure what to expect from him but in 9 starts last
year opponents hit .291; angels 5.44 runs per game overall (pre-Mon) is second only
to the White Sox and they sport a 7-day OPS of .819 and while it took some time to
plate their 4 on Monday they did strand 10 baserunners with their 12 hits and 3 free
passes; early projections are a decent wind blowing out to right, with some storms
in the area right before game-time...maybe lagging on, who knows; ump Jerry Meals
shouldn't mess this up

Only umps for which I fear for the over are Hirschbeck and Eddings; those two have
historically and consistently been major under-umps.
