Snoopl loves wta but any sane person would know equal prize money for 60% of the job makes no sense
Except men only play five sets in like 4 tournaments a year. And comparatively few of the matches in those tournaments even go five sets. The average male player probably doesn't play a single match all year that goes five sets.
If you want to make that argument, there's a much better way to do it: women want equal reward for VASTLY inferior performance. Of course, the women will say, we're women, not men. So they want equality in one way, but discrimination in their favor another. Double standards. But they're supported by the media, and no one's allowed to disagree.
Personally, I don't understand why prize monies for men's and women's tournaments are related in any way. Most of the tournaments are one-sex only. I'd leave up to the people providing the prize money to disburse as they like.
I mean, why does anyone who doesn't win the tournament get anything? That's as valid as any other way of looking at it. It may not be viable, but it's valid.
It would be interesting to see an article on how much money each sex generates from playing tennis, I've never come across such a thing. I actually like women's tennis a little better than men's, in part because the matches are shorter. And because most of the women are attractive.
Bottom line: if women can't perform as well as men, or draw crowds as big, they have no rational basis for demanding equal prize money. They want it both ways, but luckily the powers that be are on their side.
