Tonight the lobos entertain the northern arizona lumberjacks at the pit which traditionally is a very hard place to play. New Mexico is led by senior Rueben Douglas who is averaging 24.5 points from the 2 guard position. The lobos are very small and inexperienced this year. They are starting to freshman and their two biggest guys are both coming off the bench and haven't been much of a factor at all this season. Since Senque Carey point guard 's injury they are having trouble getting anyone to distribute the ball. To me they are a 1 player team that can't shoot. This is going to be along year for first year coach ritchie mcCay.
In looking at No Arizona I find that they only have two returning starters but 1 of them is a 4 yr starter in Ryan Mcdade who is averaging 17.2 and 8.8 rbs a game. The backcourt lost both guards from a year ago but this years version is turning the ball oover less! Freshman kelly Golob is 45-83 from the 3pt arc for 54%! They have 4 legit double digit scorers while unm has 2. All 4 for the lumberjacks shoot over the 50% mark, while only 1 on unm is at that level. In fact douglas their top scorer for the lobos at 24ppg is only shootuing at 38%
