Detroit Pistons @ Chicago Bulls

The red-hot Detroit Pistons go for their ninth straight win tonight when they take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

We're forecasting a low-scoring defensive struggle and will recommend a play on the Under.

The Pistons are 24-13 overall and three games back from the Pacers in the Central division. They beat the Mavericks 115-102 in their last game and that defensive effort snapped an NBA-record 38 game streak of holding opponents under 100 points. But we believe that track meet style and huge final score was an aberration and the Pistons will revert to their miserly ways tonight.

Detroit haven't gone over the total in consecutive games since late November. In their 12 games prior to the Mavs match-up they were holding opponents to just 79.6 ppg. They are 5-11 O/U on the road this season including a perfect 0-5 O/U when the posted total is between 170 and 179.5 points. Fourteen times the Pistons have played against teams that average less than 91 points per game and on all but three occasions these games have gone Under. The under is 17-5 in Detroit?s last 22 overall.

The Bulls are just 12-25 SU after posting an 89-84 victory over the Hornets Saturday. Chicago almost blew a 22-point lead in that one before some late free throws helped steady the ship. They have gone Under in four of their last five and 13 of their last 18 overall. The Bulls are combining for an average of 169 ppg in their last five at home with none of those exceeding 173 points. That follows a season-long trend with the Under at the United Center cashing at a 76% clip.

These teams have already met once this season and their meeting went Under by 29 points as Detroit won 77-73.

We don't expect the Bulls to break 80 points tonight and that leaves us with enough value to recommend the Under.

Recommended Play: Under 171
