good job guys, keep it up, hope to find something of value to contribute

philly....
Brashear has five goals, eight assists for 13 points and his 90 penalty minutes are more
than any of the Flyers.
Since Brashear won't replace John LeClair or Simon Gagne, he figures to play with Dopita
and perhaps Ruslan Fedotenko

roenicks remarks
from philly paper
When the Flyers go 0-for-6 on the power play, and Keith Primeau misses an open net, and
Roman Cechmanek watches a 90-footer sail by him, and you're wondering why you just
spent 60 bucks to watch another home loss to a supposedly inferior team, Roenick would
like you to slowly inhale, gently exhale and be a little more understanding.

In case you missed it, here is what Roenick had to say Thursday night when asked why the
Flyers have a much better record on the road than they have at home, where they are still
looking to win two in a row:
``We have a lot of pressure in this building,'' Roenick said. ``The fans don't have any
tolerance for us being behind. Sometimes we find ourselves pressing. Then, when we start
hearing the boos come, it deflates you. There's no question about it. I'm not going to lie to
you, it deflates the hell out of a hockey team. And they're very quick to do it.''
One more thing from Roenick: He wants us all to know the ice at the First Union Center is
soft and mushy. So, the next time you want to let out a hearty boo, go ahead. Let the
Zamboni driver have it. Somebody has to be blamed after a loss

Coach Bill Barber used 14 line combinations Saturday night in Boston, tying his high mark
for the season. Recchi played on six of those lines. LeClair, Gagne, Roenick, Jan Hlavac
and Paul Ranheim played on four lines. Primeau had a season-low 13 minutes, 19 seconds
of ice time (no shots) and was used on three lines. He took just 11 face-offs, winning only
36 percent of his draws. . . . Marty Murray had back-to-back minus games going into last
night. . . . Weinrich was plus-3 against Boston but did not figure in any of the Flyers' five
goals. . . . Justin Williams returned to the lineup against Edmonton last night after missing
three games, two as an injury scratch. Kent Manderville missed the game with the flu.

bost...

Neither Sergei Samsonov(knee) nor Bill Guerin(charley horse) was able to participate in the one-hour skate. Ftorek said Samsonov has no chance of playing against the Thrashers here tomorrow night, but sounded more optimistic about Guerin's chances. Ftorek on Samsonov's injury: ''It's going to get better, but it's just going to take some time.'' He noted Samsonov skated soon after exiting the lineup with the injury, but promptly decided to remain off blades when he realized the injury was more serious than initially believed..

for wed. game(advance notice)
From the sounds of it, Jean-Sebastien Aubin is going to make his first start in goal in nearly a month when the Montreal Canadiens visit Mellon Arena on Wednesday.

Johan Hedberg has started the past 11 games but did not practice yesterday because of a touch of the flu, coach Rick Kehoe said. Even if Hedberg is healthy, it appears that Aubin will make his first start since a 5-0 loss Nov. 23 at Nashville.

"Right now, (Hedberg) might need a little rest," Kehoe said. "Seabass, he'll be ready to go on Wednesday."

Aubin replaced Hedberg after two periods in Sunday's 7-0 loss to Carolina. Aubin stopped 17 of 20 shots in the third period, when the Penguins were outshot 20-2.

Aubin has only one victory since the Penguins acquired Hedberg on March 12 last season. He 1-4-1 with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage this season.

Kehoe said that winger Aleksey Morozov will miss his third consecutive game Wednesday because of a bruised shoulder. Morozov skated yesterday but did not practice.

Winger Stephane Richer, meanwhile, sat out practice because of a touch of the flu, Kehoe said.

After the Penguins' miserable experience on a recent road trip - when a flu-like virus spread through the team - Kehoe didn't want to take any chances.

"We didn't want to see it spreading through the team again, so (Richer and Hedberg) stayed home today," Kehoe said.

hell, found one more...

After a tough week of practice and solid efforts in a victory against Pittsburgh and an overtime loss to Colorado, the Wild had a bit of a break Monday. Coach Jacques Lemaire held a laid-back practice that included only 10 minutes of drills. The rest of the time was spent with players simply shooting on the goalies and playing little games. ... Defensemen Brad Bombardir, out since the sixth game because of a fractured ankle, and Willie Mitchell, out the past two games because of a strained groin, practiced Monday. Neither will play tonight, but they could be available by the weekend.

Anaheim's 25 points are second-fewest in the West and third-fewest in the NHL. ... The Mighty Ducks have only one victory in the past seven games. They lost three of those games in overtime, including giving up a shorthanded goal only 14 seconds into overtime in a 3-2 loss on Sunday against Los Angeles. ... Anaheim will be without tough guy Kevin Sawyer, who is serving a five-game suspension for participating in a brawl with Calgary on Dec. 10. ... The Ducks are 0-for-16 on power plays in their past four games. ... This is the first of four meetings this season. The Wild went 2-1-0-1 against the Ducks last season.

$$$ a little on your Leafs

Tor...
Yushkevich is sporting a nasty-looking scar ? in the shape of an upside down T ? on his left cheek. He was struck almost flush in the face with a slapshot last week in St. Louis, the type of incident that could have ended the defenceman's season had it struck closer to the eye.

"Right now I don't have a choice, I have to wear this (visor) if I want to play, and play well,'' Yushkevich said, referring to the plastic face shield he started wearing Saturday night against Montreal.

Corson's left index finger was slashed Saturday night and the veteran forward, known for playing through pain, admitted the gash on his finger came within "millimetres" of ending his season.

"I guess I was lucky. I don't know how it happened, I don't remember the play or anything. I just came to bench and noticed blood coming through my glove,'' Corson said.

Both players are expected to suit up for tonight's home game against Los Angeles as the Leafs try to extend their winning streak to six games.

But both Curtis Joseph (missed yesterday's practice with the flu) and Jyrki Lumme (bruised ribs) are questionable for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Kings

NYI: lost bad against FL, with backup goalie and FL's Luongo playing terrific. So will put out some effort tonight I expect. Osgood is 11-8 before Edmonton, 2.18 gga and .916 pct., and has had some needed rest.

Dafoe had one of his worst outings of the season last time out. Look for a terrific performance by him at home tonight in Boston. that's been the pattern..

Patrick Lalime, who needs one win to tie Damian Rhodes for second on the all-time Senators list at 65, will make his fourth straight start in goal. Lalime played both of the Senators' games against Carolina this season, a 6-2 win in Raleigh and a 1-1 tie in Ottawa. He entered the season with a 3-3-0 lifetime record and a miniscule 1.17 GAA against the Hurricanes

Injury Report
SENATORS: RW Daniel Alfredsson (hip pointer), will not play and remains listed as day-to-day. D Karel Rachunek (separated shoulder), expected to be out 2-4 weeks

- HURRICANES: C Chris Dingman (knee sprain), expected to miss 7-10 days.

The NHL's holiday roster freeze begins tomorrow and runs through Dec. 27 ... Ottawa's power play is ranked 13th in the NHL and the Sens have the 23rd-best penalty kill. Carolina is 25th in both categories.

Barraso is facing a former team for his third straight start. Goalies have a habit of winning against former teams. Barasso lost to Sabres in OT (on road), then blanked Pitt. Played least amount of time with Ott, but is 11-1-3 against Ott with miniscule 1.25 gga and .957 pct. Lalime has 1.17 gga against Hurricanes as noted above.

Makes you think twice about all the fellows picking the over in this game!
